In the old version starting position was very important, bad start and you were screwed for half the game... somebody would have grown faster and bigger than you, then he would be stopped by the other players because he was dominating too much. so if you played conservately with your bad starting position you would still have a nice game, not ?
you could play and maybe win it with tactic and strategy. Now, the new game. The games I've played mostly turned out like this: everybody rushes for domains, when somebody is very big, most players flag, game over... So, the game just to be longer, but more fun.. I hate being dependant of starting position |

Right now, people massively flag and "give away first" without even thinking about it. Happens all the time. What if 1st through 3rd were worth the same? Then, at the very least, you'd have four players per game actively trying to "place", rather than a goal of total board domination. Is it ideal? No, but it might get the "play style" factor a little more in line with people actually giving a damn when they clearly can't win based on a given turn's perceptions. |

at 2:18 AM, Tuesday September 4, 2007 EDT Yeah, old version triumphs this "new and improved." Hate to say it but notice how empty the tables are now. A lot of my friends said they are not playing anymore, due to the non strategy orient of the game anymore.
