PGA-OTF Subthread: Team Playing: If you want to have team play with the current setup, here is a clean way to do it.

1. A team game has three teams of two, or two teams of three, and a judge.

2. The judge selects an empty table and warns potential sitters that the table is wanted for a team game.

3. The team members seat themselves alternately by team. Members of a team have the same avatar.

4. When the judge is satisfied that team members are seated correctly, the judge sits in as teal and the game begins.

5. The judge does not make any attacks during the game unless agreed upon by all teams.

6. The judge records the points earned by team members, compiles the team scores, and posts them to a suitable repository: for example, the judge's own profile page.

7. The "season" begins with all team members with elo's at 1500. The season ends before any team member reaches the top 25 of rank-from-rating. The new season is begun with a new account issed to each team member, or Ryan sets their old accounts to 1500.

The idea is that teams are legit, PGA's are not. If PGA's have teams to join, they will leave non-team players alone. And there is no such thing as a permanent thread. But if PGA's join teams, there would be fewer non-team PGA's to report and the thread would be easier to maintain.

Well.
We had a firs trial of that idea skrum heres my first report:
First of all it takes ages to get hold of a unrated/1500 table that allows everyone to sit in.
those games we could play were great fun and had a huge strategic thrill to everyone involved.
some tips for the future to
EVERYONE
When you see more than 2 avatars with the name:
"Team ****" leave the room better not sit in.
You will probably end up 7th or worse.
In other words. Please be so kind and allow those not feeling like PGAing all day to screw your elo to have some team fun and leave them alone for their fun or join one of the teams.

TEAM PLAYERS
How to setup a teamgame with better likelyhood:
1st make up a account with the name "Team ****"
2nd Gather the willing in the audience of an empty 1800 table, discuss the terms of your team game.
- send ONE spectator to a long running unrated table who is responsible for scout if the map has an ok layout and to warn those still playing.
- make sure you got the critical mass of team players around, join aroom with no seats taken and wait for 6 other teamplayers to join it.
-write a warning message (copy and paste does the job)
-take your seat fast.
-team game starts.
now if you're lucky:
red green and purple are allied by default
so are blue brown and teal. yellow stays neutral and sits out immidiately except for:
the obnoxious idiot who sat despite he has been warned.
Well here comes the point where people will call me an idiot, well so be it.
You know im a friend of words.
In this case let the dice of 6 players make sure that you're really willing to play a team game.
Well what i want to say
in case someone sitting in by accident/no teamname/clearly not willing to play the team game. all 6 including yellow attack the invader make him first out.
once hes OUT (in the meaning of left event box says he finished 7th) yellow takes his place in the team he had been in and plays a team game.

if you're willing to play another of those warn possible audience not to sit in and sit in fast once the game ended.

my 2 cents on the matter.

After playing in the team games, they seem to run smoothly. The only drawback is the difficultly in securing a table without other people sitting. But I'd invite anyone to start playing team games. It's a lot of fun. I want a team championship, even if it's not approved by Ryan.

Mad Willy:

I am honored that the team idea is being tried out.

Team 0: I am not sure whether Ryan does not like the idea of teams per se or whether he doesn't like it if it means more work for him.
