why people think that "go up" means "yes, truce"?

In one game player 8*8 proposed me truce. I said to him "go up" while not answering nothing about truce. And attacked him after me moved his stack up. Then he said that my words "go up" were answer "yes" for truce and that I breaked truce. I didn't make truce with him, it was his mistake to think so. I kinda tricked him. But that was fair and smart diplomacy, it wasn't dirty. He just followed my directions to go up just as silly sheep. But somehow lovekdicetodeath and other player found me guilty for "playing dirty" and "breaking truce", which I never did.

at 4:52 PM, Tuesday June 26, 2007 EDT I think:
he didn't break a truce but the other players saw him playing 'dirty'. Smart diplomacy is 'keeping the ones you need as a friend',you didn't because your actions gave the other players a reason to attack, they used it in their diplomacy, you could even say it was 'dirty'. But that doesn't mather, you tried to play the game and you saw your smart diplomacy backfire, that's what it is, you might say it is'nt dirty but if the other players see it as being dirty or as an oportunity to ally againstyou then it is not smart diplomacy. I suggest, try something else next time, don'tgive others an opening toally,be the 'nice' oneat the table and take 'm all out. Take 'm all out. :) |

at 5:21 PM, Tuesday June 26, 2007 EDT Giving a command to a neighbor implies a favor to most people rather than a threat. I wonder if you have ever outright said that you'd attack someone after they ask for a truce? Probably not because you'd know they'd premptively strike back.
I hope you learned something from your cloudy response because reputations can spread beyond one game. |

at 8:58 PM, Tuesday June 26, 2007 EDT another thing is, you accused 8*8 of not understanding english and mistook 'go up' as a yes to the truce proposal. i have to say if you do understanding english, a simple 'no' would have aviod all these (and you would probably be killed by 8*8). from the way it happened, from the context of the conversation between you and 8*8, i have to say you intentionally misled him. you did play dirty.
take a look at 8*8 and eikantas' profile and you can see what kind of people they are. who do you believe. i am not even the victim here - i actually came 1st in the game. but when i see such a dirty player, i just have to get it off my chest. |

fuck off. I would be dirty whore, if: 1. I would deny or ignore this event by not talking about it in public and deleting all comments in my profile; 2. I would permanently break truces, which are made by unambiguous agreements like "truce? yes, ok"; while it not happens, whis is not board for personal offences, but for a disscusion of argumented opinions about what is truce and what is not. |

Actually Sinth, the best truces are made over AIM. You and I both know that. |

at 8:07 PM, Tuesday July 3, 2007 EDT Hi, this is 8*8 . I normally wouldn't respond but Sarahxxx asked if I would.
My personal feelings on the matter is I think what Eikantas did was wrong. I know he thinks it was good tactics. Leave an ambigous answer and hope that I would leave a weak side facing him so he could capitalize. By peoples reaction, most seem to disagree with Eikantas. I never asked for revenge, even though lovekdicetodeath (who won that infamous game) gave it to eikantas in spades. Really, Eikantas can use any tactic he wants to. But that dosen't mean everyone has to like it. For whatever small benefit he got from the tactic he used, it has cost him far more. He got wasted in that game and this thing has grown more and more that people are hearing about it and not trusting him. Some are targeting him just out of principle. So I am not mad, I wish eikantas the best, (even though I will never ask him for a truce again, fool me once.....) and hope he can let it go. The more he fights for his opinion to be accepted, the more enemies he is making. Life is too short. So take some advice from this "silly sheep" and repeat after me. Bah its only a game bah bah its only a game. ;) |
