at 12:25 PM, Friday June 22, 2007 EDT GG wayne? You're playing the 2000 tables and I would bet a buck or two that you are playing there a lot more than you are playing at the 1500 tables.
First of all, it doesn't matter how hard you "try" to get in the top four...so many times (esp. at the 1500 tables) the game is based on things like AFK'ers and PGA's. It's pretty ridiculous these days. So when you do get terrible luck - go last, start your turn with 2 territories and then lose two 5v4 or 4v2 to connect or even just get one more territory your're done. So ya, trying to get to the 1800 tables is a huge gap and a couple starts like that will cause you to have to play many more games just to get your rank back to where it was. |

at 4:36 PM, Friday June 22, 2007 EDT Actually ive played about a 100 games in the 1500s this month. I know all about the 1500 tables. I've also made it over the 300 point gap with another name. Dont play to win, play to gain points, if you play smart and get 4/5 territories and stack while everyone else cuts each other to pieces, youll gain points every game. Not that hard, go out and make it happen. I am NOT good at Kdice, I win very little but I score points and thats whats important.
5er, love the "pump my gas", love it |

at 10:22 PM, Friday June 22, 2007 EDT That 4/5 territories strategy gets harder and harder the higher you climb. If you were to play that way all the time, that 20 pt gain you receive at 1550 turns into 4 pts or less when you're at 1730 or above playing against 1500 ranked players.
And with a bad start, you lose 30 pts and thus waste 4-6 games with your strategy. With a good win you gain 20 or less. This is definitely a sucker's strategy as long as there's a 300pt jump on a weighted scoring system. |

at 2:48 AM, Tuesday June 26, 2007 EDT I made the leap and have since fallen back on this account but realized something along the way. KDICE is dying without 1700 tables. I no longer play 2000 tables, and I got to 1800 and then you know what happened? It was a ghost town. No 1800 tables were active and no 2000 tables were active. All the action is on the lower tables and even then people don't want to play because they can't progress up the ladder. I agree it should be difficult but not to the point it ruins the game.
So I'll get off my high horse and say 1700 players should get some tables. When that happens the 15 and 16 players can pump my friggen gas! |

I agree, the 300 point table gap is a real problem for making progress. If it's difficult for players to make progress then they will not have as much fun playing and as a result will not play as often. The less people playing the even less likely new players will join. It's all interdependent. The simplest solution would be to change the 1500 tables into 1600 tables. This is because brand new players start out at 1500 already. A newly created account should not be immmediately competing with more established players without a little work themselves. This results in dummy accounts being used unfairly. |
