My Flag Policy

This is a double post because when you click the other thread "Flags" you get redirected to an older one which isn't very relevant.

"flags are always misunderstood"

Not any more! I've decided how I'm going to understand flags - see below. Comments? Is there some loophole or something I haven't considered? Would you agree with me?

FLAG POLICY

1. If you flag to me, I will try to avoid attacking you, especially if it will kill you. I will attack you if you attack me, or if I need your territory (if I want a shot at a higher finish, or you are blocking my path). I will try to warn you of that.

2. If I flag, I will stop attacking the top player. I am likely to stop attacking other players too. But I will try to eliminate anyone who is weaker than me, if they are unflagged.

3. IF YOU ATTACK ME WHEN I AM FLAGGED I WILL RETALIATE IF I CAN

4. I do NOT use flags to sit in a corner, stack dice, then unflag. I will ONLY unflag if asked, or if I want to retaliate as in (3).

5. I do not expect other players to respect flags, but then I do expect them not to complain if I have to defend myself while I am flagged.

6. I consider it OK to attack any player who appears to have gone away from the game permanently.

You're never going to get complete agreement on what flagging "means". The only thing that really matters is that if everyone flags, the game ends. Nothing more, nothing less. The main thing I don't like is people expecting me to leave them alone because they are flagged. If I believe it will help me finish higher, I leave them alone, if not, I don't. Simple as that. I don't expect others to leave me alone if I flag. I don't flag any sooner than the point in the game where I think that flagging will prevent me from losing my current position.

back in the day, the game ended when everyone except one was flagged. then you got whatever place you where at AT that particular moment.

therefor ninjaflag, take a few terrs, and flag asap, that way stealing 2nd, while you should have been in 5th

I don't understand the above ways of flagging. I flag a specific player so the person understands I am not a threat to them, if they become peaceful to me in turn. I flag a specific position so people who are fighting for higher ones will hopefully ignore me, or let me have my fight.
