Yearning for the kdice days of yore...

I've been playing this game for awhile--since back when you could score over 100 points in a game and every other game ended by lagging out permanently. Players would chat about where they're from, crack jokes, talk about their day, etc. The good old days. Now it seems you can't play a game without someone bitching about truces, yelling at you for attacking while flagged, freaking out when they are attacked while flagged, accusing someone of pretrucing, flipping out for continuing to play instead of flagging, mourning the loss of their rank for that day, or berating someone for what they did three games ago. Now there are 50 different versions of "unwritten rules," kdice elitists, and occasionally a complete asshole or two. I suppose its the nature of the community as it grows, but it is unfortunate. To prove my point, note the smartass belittling comments that are sure to follow this comment, or just tune in to any chat. Yes, yes, I know, if I don't like it I don't have to play. I'll have to think about that one.
And that's all I've got to say about that.

actually, i still believe there was a whole change in attitude when dominance became such a big factor in the game. For anyone who's played the game before the change in rules, wasn't it friendlier before?
Now any sign of friendship can be misconstrued as a PGA it seems. I dunno, that's how it's seemed during some games. You say hello to someone, ask how they're doing, And all of a sudden, you hear the battle cry, "COUNTER TRUCE!!!"

I'm actually cool with it. I've been playing since the beginning, more or less, under one name or another, and definately agree there's been a change. At the same time though, i've found if you just start initiating the conversation, even if just with stupid rambling to break the ice, it usually goes pretty well. Its harder now, but maybe half of the games i play now still have convo, and it still works out. its the games where no one's talking that you get people becoming massively upset and competitive. Its much harder to be angry at someone you've been joking with all game : )

Yeah. Manfred, those were the days. But, the complaining has always been around. However, back in ye old times, forum threads were much, much simpler, and people had easier converstaion.

"People, especially at higher tables, are more concerned about getting medals than enjoying the game." This is essentially why I quit playing. I loved the people, but I didn't play for fun anymore, it was all about winning.

The only thing I get really sick of, aside from juvenile pinheads slinging racial and homophobic epithets around like grits in a Carolina waffle house, is people without any command in the current game demanding -- not asking, but demanding -- courses of action from those in the lead.

Wicked, it's sad you left, since I never got to know you. And, i only disagree with your post since I play to win because this is the only comp. game I'm actually good at, so i try for the best,a nd proof of the best!

I agree to a point, manfred, but I've found an easy solution that allows you to play against people that are just having fun, yet still give yourself a personal challenge. Play only at the first available no limit table and see how high a score you can build and hold. I've gotten as high as 1750, and usually hold in the 1720 to 1730 range most of the time (not on this account). People at those tables are a mix of newbies that are easy to beat if you have a decent start, and experienced players who aren't very concerned about score, just a fun game. Playing this way, I've never come across an obvious PGA and chat is usually limited, but fun when you get it going. Trucing and counter trucing is seldom a vicious thing, because too few newbies really understand how to use truces anyway. There are also no "kdice elitists" as you call them, since it is beneath them to play at the no limit tables. For about a month, I've only been playing on the account I created for just this purpose, and I have found it to be a much more enjoyable and social game that is reminiscent of the "...kdice days of yore..." I invite you to join me in this style of play. After a week or so of playing, maybe sooner, you may decide to play this way almost exclusively, as I have. It's a great way to renew your enjoyment of a great game.

Wicked!: Sorry to hear that you have left.

I have calculated your lifetime TAPL for you. It is 3934. Even better than Stoudemire.
