What do YOU think flagging means?

i was having a little discussion about this with some other players. someone attacked while he was flagged, I said this wasn't very honourable, someone else disagreed :p
So what does flagging mean to you?

-Do you surrender to the biggest guy, but still attack others to secure your position?

-Does it mean you stop fighting completely, being happy with the lands you have, waiting until the game is over, and in return want others to stop attacking you aswell?

-does it mean you'll keep on fighting as if your flag wasn't there, playing until everyone is dead/flagged?

-Does it mean you'll sit there, making others believe you are harmless, then when you maxed out your reserves, suddenly attack multiple times and take the lead?

-...

If you'll all post what you think flagging means, maybe we can come up with a definite meaning for it, kind of like a Geneva convention for Kdice :p

If flagging were meant to prevent you from attacking, then flagging would, you know, prevent you from attacking.

Flagging means you are ready for the game to end. No more, no less.

Flagging means "If everyone is willing to accept the current rankings, I'm willing too, and let's get the game."

You can attack, defend, and stage a comeback while flagged.

I agree with sea captain and TimmyT.
Flagging means what the game is allowing.

Normally, I flag to the Leader. When my flag is up, that means i do not attack the leader anymore.
Exception: The leader attacks me. Then I strike back, no matter if the flag is up or not.

This is the way flags should be used. If you want to use the flag in a different way, tell people what your flag means via the chat window.

For me, flagging means 'please come and spam our table's chat function with long URLS, because we are unable of finding the discussion forums ourselves'.

If ur flagged it means nothing really, pretty much means ur done. Some ppl flag to use it as a strategy to stack up, or wait til other ppl are out. But it means nothing cuz ur still able to attack. Some gay ass ppl flag when they are in a good place but cannot hold theyre lands in hope of someone letting em keep it. Flaging is gay, make ppl on the table agree to flag before u do

i agree with the wiki. flagging just means you're ready to end the game if everyone else is.

if you're flagged but i can gain position by attacking you i'm going to. if i'm flagged and i can gain position by attacking you i'm going to.

it makes sense to attack non-flagged if your goal is to end the game. but there's no moral requirement to protect flagged players.

Q1: Do you surrender to the biggest guy, but still attack others to secure your position?
A1: Yes, unless I can overthrow the big guy; when that happens, all bets are off.

Q2: Does it mean you stop fighting completely, being happy with the lands you have, waiting until the game is over, and in return want others to stop attacking you as well?
A2: Sweet Loafing Gophers, NO! SUCH THINKING IS UTTERLY INSANE. In kdice, pacifism at ANYTIME is the kMARKET GARDEN of battle plans.

Q3: does it mean you'll keep on fighting as if your flag wasn't there, playing until everyone is dead/flagged?
A3: If it suits me to do so, certainly I will; see Q1 and Q2 above.

Q4: Does it mean you'll sit there, making others believe you are harmless, then when you maxed out your reserves, suddenly attack multiple times and take the lead?
A4: Maybe, but my flag comes down first, to be polite. Its not as sneaky as it seems; the "game-position" algorithm considers # of territories 1st. Other factors, including strategically located territories and # of dice, may result in a stronger "strategic position" despite a lower "game position".

It just means you're ready to quit the game.. It seems more like it would be an INVITE to attack, than a reason for someone not to.

"Hey, I'm ready to quit, anyone mind finishing me off?"

I usually stop playing, and sit out when I'm flagged, but that's just because I usually don't flag unless I'm truly ready to quit.
