"Elo" is often written in capital letters (ELO), but it is not an acronym. It is the family name of the system's creator, Ãrpád ÉlÅ‘ (1903-1992), a Hungarian-born American physics professor." -- Wikipedia |

at 10:24 PM, Wednesday April 11, 2007 EDT Acronyms can mean a lot of things, but the name of the rating system came from a name, that's why the quote said it is often written in caps but is not an acronym.

at 11:21 PM, Wednesday April 11, 2007 EDT I my mind I have always said "KDice" in a Spanish/Italian way, so that it became "Que Dice?"
I incorrectly thought that meant, "What are you saying?" After some translation, I know it doesn't. That said, I also knew it had very little to do with the topic so my guess is that the K stands for Kilo and thus for a thousand. |
