banning racism

I would like to get the other mods view on this.
I feel like it would be ok to ban for this as it falls under "Hate Lang." which is clearly set out, Any thoughts mods?

i think that gpokr mods should stay in gpokr land and xsketch mods should stay in xsketch land and kdice mods should stay in kdice land. there are different standards on each site- we all saw that when TCS started banning people for a few curse words upon losing a game of dice. That's acceptable here, but not acceptable on sketch because the audience is different. I have no idea what the standards are like on gpokr, so I don't know what is appropriate and what is not. Additionally, we've seen what happens when one mod undoes another mod's actions, but I've seen some of that over the last week (and while it hasn't been a huge fuss, the actions haven't been right imo). One mod rarely if ever knows the full reasons behind another mod's ban, so they don't have the whole story and an unban isn't right.

There really should be a new mod tutorial created by the current mods so that all of this gets addressed before new mods are given their powers (or at least before they are allowed to act on them). That being said, one should also read a few pages of forum posts before making an advisorblog post about something that has been discussed extensively in the past. It would be nice for each community see a complete list of real rules also (ie PGA is cheating, no sharing accounts, racism is bannable) and some consistency among the mods (especially in terms of banning alts for main offenses).

jurgen, did you say someone was going to email me an invite to the mod forum? I haven't received one yet.

Yes Vermont and Karin confirmed me she sent it like a few hours after I asked her. It's been weeks ago. I can't ask her now since she is in hospital with a broken leg. I gave her the only email address I had of you.

I also agree with most of what chloe said. some things already somewhere but nothing is really centralised.

I was also putting together a blog post addressing all aspects of harassment, trolling, chat and fourm abuses (+ the appropriate ban times).

A few reasons why that project is on hold:

- the current mod month took too much of my time + I was really going to abandon modding if I didn't get help from Ryan

-I posted it on the general modforum, hoping for some interacting from all mods + Ryan -> nothing yet

-I am waiting for new active mods now, discussing it with them. I will still follow most of my own ideas on the matter though but it would be easier if there were some common standards.

I still think it's pretty easy to conclude some general things though:

1) not everything will be banned, everyone is allowed some leeway

2) there are limits to what is accepted and excessive stuff will be punished. Defining "excessive" will be hard but it should be easy to avoid the grey area where you risk a ban if you use some common sense

3) each case is unique and there will be some flexibility on the ban times, basically the punishment should fit the crime
