Something is wrong with this rating system.
I just played a game with one player beeing strong, a second a little less, and me as the weakest of the remaining players.
At this point of the game, me and 2nd had more territories than 1st.
When I attacked first, some (already killed) spectators started complaining that this qpuld be stupid, I should attack 2nd, etc. I was called shit and backstabber just for not ganging on the weaker one.
This can't be the point of the game. This makes me very sad...

The rewards define the game. This is a game of fighting the losers and sucking up to the winner. Not like dicewars where you only play to win.

A winner takes all reward structure has been discussed before, but it would probably lead to games going on forever between good players.

Has anyone ever seen a game go on forever? Once you have a lucky streak and get say 16/17/whatever territories the game is pretty much sealed. I know just from Dice Wars that it can take awhile to kill off those last territories or break through a border but it's inevitable and there's a surrender option for when it does happen here.

I don't know about forever, but yesterday I had a game where, once it got down to me and one other guy, I was already in the lead territory wise and we both had 8 dice per territory, but after another 15 rounds of play my opponent got all the luck and eventually wiped me out completely.

It was not cool.

At this point, i believe the best strategy is to make an alliance early with somebody near you early and stick with it till the end. The difference between first and second is miniscule.

If you don't do it, somebody else will.

Not only is playing for second a poor strategy to reward, but the points are skewed so badly that several of the games I've won gave me fewer points that the 2nd place player.
