at 6:43 AM, Sunday June 16, 2013 EDT With 90 Member Tourneys per month and an average number of 7 players per tourney, an average player (arriving 3.5 across the whole month, so scoring 1,500 points per tourney) playing all tourneys, should score 135,000 points.
Gold Members Era started... |

at 8:15 AM, Sunday June 16, 2013 EDT a few mistakes in that calculation
1) Let's assume your avg of 7 players is correct. I think it's a tiny bit more but 7 is actually easier to calculate. The avg outcome with 7 would be 4, not 3,5 ( 1+2+3+4 +5+6+7 = 28, divideb by 7 = 4) 2) with 7 players, your payout is 1210 with 500 buyin and 1017 with 250 buyin 3) if you deduct buyins, you'd be gaining 710 and 767 on avg 4) actually, the good way to "estimate" gains / 7 player tournament is divide the 7500 bonus by 7 so you end up with 1071 5) someone who theoretically played all 87 ish tournaments (none on last day + no nightly on day 1), would end up with 95k (including his 2500 bonus) So a robot who managed to play 50 member tournaments could farm 55k. Every month, there's at least one non member who gets to 50k minimum. finally, another "advantage" of kdice traffic going down means that the avg #players for every non member type has dropped by about 30-50% compared to 2 years ago. This means that the risk/reward has increased considerably for all other types of tournaments too (the 7500 bonus is divided by less players) in short: OK, it's time to stop the whining about membership points era :P |

at 8:19 AM, Sunday June 16, 2013 EDT P.S. There's still a difference in skill too. Some players only gain a few 100 points per members or are not even breaking even (deducting buyin). I've always been close to 2k/tourney (gloat gloat)

at 10:06 AM, Sunday June 16, 2013 EDT My math was incorrect but being an average player you can still very easily be top 5/6 every month.
This is not right. But I also agree with you that enough of the talking about members being favored as everybody knows but I think it is good to actually measure it. |

at 10:16 AM, Sunday June 16, 2013 EDT And if you play every tourney like CB or Slinus did when they got Gold, being an average player you are going to be 1/2 or 3 (95k per month).
An above average playing (like you), would score close to 200k if he was playing all tourneys... Give absolutely no chance to anyone else. Any game should not allow an average player to be first, it is just wrong. Sorry if I am insisting, but it is the first time I am actually quantifying the membership advantage. |

at 10:18 AM, Sunday June 16, 2013 EDT Yeah and the spirit of what you said was right, I just had a stat/math-nerd moment there.
Someone with good tournament skills and LOTS of free time to play 60+ members could get 100k+. Average players who play 60 members could (better said: SHOULD) get top 5 each month. slightly related: iumentum was actually helping me at one point with a data mining tool so we could generate tournament stats, including points per tourney stats for each type of tournament. I got my lifetime stats and it was pretty cool to check. Too bad he's busy now and we (well, he) couldn't complete it as an actual app. We would have to start from scratch I guess but if someone with some data mining skills (grabbing the tourney history from the site and putting it in a database that you can be querried) is interested in making this, a contributor badge would definitely be awarded. |

yeah no worries, I actually appreciate people discussing and questioning things or suggesting things to improve the site (bearing in mind that it's virtually impossible to get changes) I did the math once and I think the total bonus points of all other tournaments was about 140% of the 87*7,5k of the members. Then again, you can't play the lower tourneys anymore once your points climb. I just calculated it once to show people that Ryan pumped more bonus points into the system through regular tourneys compared to member tourneys. Then again, lowering the bonus to 5k bonus/member tournament wouldn't hurt the competition. |

at 9:17 PM, Sunday June 16, 2013 EDT I laughed. Stop talking bullshit, herv.
I didn't even play half of all members tourneys and still had a quite decent ppg on regulars (211). So shut the fuck up, stop crying and try to achieve something yourself, if you are able to (what I highly doubt). Fucking noob. |
