Some advisors play this game for years. Some have not played this game for years. Some not even played one game here.
What is the problem to give young players the right? (not me, but to ppl who play and stay on kdice for alot of time ) |

at 2:45 PM, Monday May 20, 2013 EDT If Ryan makes someone advisor on gpokr or xsketch, he or she also becomes an advisor here. That's why you see people like Annat or others as advisor here.
Some KDice mods did retire but Ryan rarely updates his advisor list. I find the huge list of offline mods a bit depressing but that's how it is. I tried explaining Ryan before but this is how it will stay. But imo, we don't need more mods first, we need game replays first |

at 4:36 AM, Tuesday May 21, 2013 EDT I actually play some alts on lower tables occasionally and I still watch the lower tables too (much less than I used to though).
The thing is, it's hard to motivate a moderator to keep watching the lower level tables (well any table level basically) if you know in advance your time is spent so inefficiently. If you spot a potential problem, you can't quickly check activity logs to see if there was a high 1-2 correlation or a low attack% between 2 players. You can't check old games to see if something was a one game thing or not. Half the time, players at lower tables have no clue of what they are doing or just like being a jerk. So sometimes it just looks like pga but these people just suck at the game. As a mod, now you are forced to spend countless hours where you just have to hope that the cheaters happen to sit at the table you're watching (don't forget there are usually about 10 tables playing). Being able to watch saved games would make the time spent so much more efficient + let's not ignore the fact that bans would be more justifiable and the risk of banning someone by error would be lower. Same for verbal abuse, it would be sooooo easy if chatlogs were saved for a few days so advisors could check reported players. I'm drifting off. My point is that you need better mod tools first before you add new mods who will get demotivated after a while. Another problem is the fact that you need experienced and skilled players as moderators. You can't really appoint someone who plays at the lower tables all month because by definition, that players doesn't understand the game so how can you let him or her judge on other players? |
