Welcome to Kdice

Stabbing is not illegal, it's lame but there's not much that can be done about it except if real cheating or pga is happening at the same time.

The only thing you can do is remember the player and punish him later. Or everyone should just gang up and kill that player later in the same tournament. Giving bad reviews is another option however the current review system is worth nothing.

I've suggested to Ryan a few times that people should get a green, red or yellow trustworthiness badge based on a REAL rating system for players. This site will never have that. Hopefully Dustin can add something like this on warsocial.com later.

If you want to remember who stabbed you or who you saw stabbing other people, you can add the deadcode tools so you can keep notes for players. Oh and he also added an auto-end feature. His most recent Firefox and Chrome downloads can be found on his profile at http://www.kdice.com/profile/44773121

Review systems are and always have been inherently worthless based on people's need to passive-aggressively complain about people who beat them. Sure, there are legitimate bad reviews, but I'd wager that 3/4 of them are bogus. Doesn't matter if you add a pretty color to it or not.

The current worthless review system has so many bad reviews because mostly trolls or bad losers use it or people who just had a bad encounter with someone.

I agree that a good rating system needs way more than just a coloured badge. You need more people actively reviewing people (which will only be worth everyone's time if it leads to something useful) and you need a system that filters out all the useful data so ratings are accurate. You can create algorithms to eliminate people who post fake or false reviews.

Bottom line: wishful thinking for Kdice

I think another good idea would be to have a character limit for reviews, maybe something around 200, so you don't see "x IS A TURD HOMO x IS A TURD HOMO x IS A TURD HOMO, etc." type reviews. Also maybe allow the user a very limited number of review deletions, maybe 3 or so, which would discourage players to delete legitimate bad reviews but allow people to erase a review motivated by nerd rage.

I think a review system is necessary in most cases for online games, they just require active, informed moderation (ie, able to see replays of games to see if a review is deserved and act accordingly -- either probation for one player or revoking review rights for the other, for example) and also good will on the part of the players. I'm a firm believer in the inherent goodness of man and all, but I dunno. The internet brings out the worst in people.

That's another (really nitpicky) thing: I don't really like the moderation terminology on here. A ban, to me, generally implies that the player or the account isn't coming back ever. So like the phrase "one week ban" is an oxymoron. I think a better way to put it, as I said in my previous post, is probation, for anything that isn't permanent.

Really a small detail but it just makes things clearer in my opinion.

As Jurgen said, nothing can be done against stabbing, it is not even against the rules, as vflags do not exist in the basic concept. However, repetetive stabbing will ruin your reputation even with the review-system at hand.

As for an improvement of the review system I think we all know, there won't be one. Using dc-tool like clickable reviews with some key phrases, limitation in lenght, aging (who cares for a review that's more than 6 months old?) are all possibilities - nothing will be realised. The more sophisticated variants have no chance of seeing this game ever.

Stabbing isn't illegal. Not accepting someones flag isn't either. Deal with it.

Also, HUGE lol to anyone who threatens you with making you a PGE, since everyone should already be pre-game enemies to start every round
