at 2:25 PM, Thursday December 15, 2011 EST im actually playing through ff3 right now, haha. i ride the bus to and from work, so i get like 40 mins per day of down time to play. ive got a rigged nintendo ds that has a decent snes emulator on it, so im slowly playing through all the great childhood games.
fwiw, i tried crono trigger on the ds, and thought it was merely above average. maybe because i had too high of expectations going in. but probably not. what prob was the cause was me not playing it when it came out in the 90s (somehow i missed that one, have no clue how considering the publicity it was getting back then). it turns out nostalgia is the chief determinant of whether a game is 'awesome' or not. so crono gets the shaft from me, totally unwaranted. for me, nostalgia says that the best rpgs are fftactics secret of mana ff4 ff3 wild arms the only newer generation console rpg that i put in that top 5 is ff12. lots of people didnt like it, but im a completionist, and ff12 was amazingly well-designed for someone who is ocd. |
