I have this feeling and so do others that I have talked to, so I am going to put it out there:
Do you guys think kdice is in dying right now?(like a ghost town of sorts?) |

at 5:55 AM, Tuesday December 6, 2011 EST Yes, definetly.
There is a small group that has numerous to uncountable accounts and is circular wanking each other. New players and outsiders don't stand a chance and quickly lose the fun once they run into this. |

at 8:49 AM, Tuesday December 6, 2011 EST It does seem to be declining a bit, but that's just anecdotal. I don't have any real metrics to back that up.
Certainly the nature of the forum has changed, but I actually think the overall number of players/games has gone down. |

at 3:24 PM, Tuesday December 6, 2011 EST let's hope this displays OK for starters:
it's incomplete data but it's what I could dig up fast. It's the sum of all points gained by top 100 in a month. We dropped about 20% over 2 years. Well if you put it in a graph, it mainly drops the last 8 months. It looks stable again for the last 3 months or so. dec/09 3333001 jan/10 3341474 apr/10 3394347 mei/10 3238374 okt/10 2975607 nov/10 3036697 dec/10 2980655 jan/11 3346686 feb/11 2912801 mrt/11 3103305 apr/11 3013227 mei/11 2824201 jun/11 2897388 jul/11 2806958 aug/11 2601394 sep/11 2631983 okt/11 2588726 nov/11 2672600 top 100 might not be the best method to evaluate site traffic but it's relatively easy to do. I had started a project to estimate all points gained by the entire rank in a month but it's a lot of manual labour. Basically you need a good dataset of ranks + points for each month. with about 50 datapoints for each month (ranks ranging from place 10 to place 4000) you can estimate a point vs rank curve for each month. The evolution of that global points total would be a good measure of skill *cough* site activity I woudl need help from a scripter for the datapoints But anyway, why do all that hard work. The perception is defenitely there. Last few month, it seems like the tables are so deserted and that there are fewer 500s active. Also the 2k and 5k's start later in the month. |

at 6:52 PM, Tuesday December 6, 2011 EST no one wants to play anymore because all the new-new-schoolers in the top 25 are wankers. give it another few months until they realize KDice isn't that important and start to care less, and competition will probably increase.
