Help me write a Kdice guide...New players and Vets both respond

I am going to begin writing a fairly comprehensive kdice guide, starting from being a brand new player to being a regular veteran. It's hard remembering exactly which things were confusing as a new player.

New players: please post questions you have about kdice basics that you would like explained better or that would have been helpful right out the gate.

Veterans: let me know what things helped you turn the corner from being a "noob" to being a monthly medal winner.

Players with only white medals: What obstacles do you see getting in the way of being in the top 25?

I know some players cheat at this game too, I would like to know how this happens too so I can explain it in the guide. I would like to compare what some perceive as cheating, but is valid play, to actual cheating.

I will write an abbreviated advanced section, since I don't have top 3 medals...and I can reference Monte's guide for that. However, I would like to include the ways that you guys have achieved top 3 medals.

Thanks everyone and the more responses I get, the better this guide will be.

If you present an idea that I don't already have, then I will reference it as your idea.

my life story:

event: kimmy told me to cheat with her
lesson: that's when i learned girls can't play kdice

event: played a lot of games and became friends with EVERYONE - got silver, lost to shad
lesson: majority of kdicers suck.

event: i met dlk
lesson: learned I'm better than everyone else at kdice

event: got my first gold
how: there were no mods
lesson: know who you can, can't piss off

event: won gold again
how: members tournys
lesson: kdice is easy to win if you have time

event: got bronze
why: because i stopped caring
lesson: im better than everyone and can get gold if i want just by playing

basically, play all the member tournies after learning the basics on how to manipulate people and you can get 1st.

or you can wait for a month where no one is going for 1st like the last gold i got and just get it from playing casually for 3 weeks and the last week I just stopped playing

When i was a noob i spent my time watching the high tables, thats how i learned.

when i had white medals the top players used to kill me when i played big tables thats the bit obstacle i bet.

and the easiest way to get top 3 is being friend with everyone (preffer new people) they wont attack you and you can take advantage of it since you'll be playing with 6 otfs per game, you'll have to manipulate them as well.

Many Friends (suck some *** for few months first on high tables, say hello to everybody and act like you were a cool dude), lots of time to waste to play and hang around and manipulating ppl..that's all.

Sum up : This game suck. Call it a competition is a big LOL

i'd explain PGEs and how that's not cheating (but can be annoying)

i'd explain truces and especially silent truces and how they come about.

rolloffs, including common reasons for +'s being given

vflags

hard flags too (including multiple people flagging for the same spot)

and you can say that members is almost free points, can be an interesting place to learn, and if you play regularly is a very easy top 100.

you could explain that starts and stacking are completely random.

you could talk about how the luck calculation does not include starts and stacking, but only rolls.

you could talk about how veteran players will often join forces and kill the newbies first (in one of my first member tournys deer said "kill him because he's new" or something like that).

also link to mtthelp, and maybe explain how tournys work, with a breif bti on the payouts, and a bit about scaling of max point loss as the tourny progresses (i.e. 50 point loss first round, 125 2nd, 250 3rd, and so on, and that it depends on how many people are in the tourny). Also how point gains and losses work in the tournys (like how 2nd place can win more points than first place, because he wagered more). If you could talk about the math behind it that'd be cool for the math people among us as well.

you can talk about the different types of tables (4/8/16 stack) and their + limits (+4x stack), and how this affects gameplay (4 stack games are quick, 16 stack games can be very slow).

AN IMPORTANT THING to talk about would be how the game determines how much dice you get when you click end turn. Sometimes I see newbs 2 base or 3 base and have no idea that's a terrible strategy. This can lead into talking about cuts and why they're good, and well as tips for islands (like if you have a remote island, just leave it so you don't waste dice). Maybe talk about how vflags work with islandand that you can ask people to take your islands.

Maybe talk about other aspects of vflags, like when to help (either by moving or by taking isles) and when to sit.

definitely mention deadcode tools, auto end turn is a killer feature that kdice should have.

also talk about sitting out and how after 3 turns sitting out, you force resign.

you can say that the rules page has a list of mods, and their online status (and that if it just says "playing at table" and doesn't say what table, that means they're in a tournament at a dynamic table.

lastly, you can mention ctrl +, and how that can be helpful at times.

i would specifically leave out stuff that directly helps cheating, like how you can only have 1 table rendered per IP unless you use certain browsers, how if 2 accounts sign in on the same IP, that can't be in same tourny or play same table for the rest of the month. Don't mention proxys or other ways to get around this limitation.
