I don't quite agree with you Jurgen because not showing up any more will still leave the little personal data one spends in creating an account in the databases. There'd be proof the person has been here.

Deleting an account for me would mean that maybe the page with stats and results stays, but all personal information in the profile, the comments, login, mail, facebook, twitter - whatever was behind that account - is gone. Erasing all forum-contributions is too much work I think, though it would be nice. Maybe the sender could be replaced with "gone". Also reviews of others should be gone with the account erased (else I create a new account every day, write shit, delete it and over again...).

If you were OK with having info here before (aim, pics, birthday info, fb links, forum comments, well...any info), why would the same stuff become a problem later? Even if you delete everything from your profile, you cannot be sure people will not have saved it.

Once you post info on the net, it becomes a risk. And I have seen plenty of sites where it's impossible to delete your account.

Just playing a bit of the devil's advocate here because I also think a delete account option would solve many of these problems.

If you want a permanent IP ban then you would have no access to your info on this site, but others would. This is completely different from asking for your account to be deleted.

So in the same post you asked for two seperate, unrelated and somewhat contradictory things.
