Script and Tips thread (gathering all scripters)

I've been trying to learn scripting/coding features for KDice lately, and I found out that there is many dicers that can code. And they're happy to contribute.

The purpose of this thread, is to gather as many scripters as we can, and try to develop new and fun/useful add-ons so we can enjoy new features. (And maybe we could form a group of players that can script together.)

Come with inputs, ideas, and tips. Everything is welcome

I have alot of cool ideas already, but I’m hardly qualified to create much as I’m new to the whole scene.

I’m currently using www.w3schools.com to learn from
And i use http://jsfiddle.net to show the codes to people
If you have other great sites please post a link.

Thanks in advance.

We could for example share AIM, MSN or whatever you have and write internally there. Instead of going from table to table, looking for scripters, is it a little easier when everyone is gathered in one place. We got the idea and thought, Why not gather all in one place? Cause there's great potential in many of the scripters we have here.

things on my mod script wish list:

* a general message type of thing:
Let's say there is an interesting new advisor blog or forum post or something that the entire community needs to know about (nuw rules, new features). It would be usefull if I had a script that writes my message on every table. So basically the script needs to move my account to every table with people on it and post the same message everywhere. I don't intend to use it weekly but it would come in handy from time to time. This has spam potential so I would say mods only.

* an advisorlog logger: something that scans all action in the advisorlog (whenever I run the script) and either reminds me of what bans need to be undone by me that day (and the comming 2 days) or just creates a datafile that I can copy into excel and use there. The excel version needs to have an extra column in the sheet that shows the number of days until the unban. That column can obviously only show a number for bans where I mentioned how many days the ban was. If this script is made I will use a standard code for the ban duration so that it will be possible for the script to read it out (for example, I could always use "X day ban")

First choice would be the script that lists me all bans that need to be unbanned in chronological order. If nobody can come up with that, I will settle for the less cool version :P)

Btw; I have a source control system that allows engineers to work on a set of code without stepping on each others toes.

http://code.google.com/p/dc-kdice-tools/

This system has version tracking with history, wiki, issue tracking, etc.

Let me know if you want to be part of this and I will give you access to commit changes to the code.

Smurf let me know your email and I can add you to the committers list.

Alex; let me know if you need any help getting accustomed to using a source control repository; it is pretty simple.

yeah i think i need that. I'll look into it a bit first and let you know if there is anything i need help with

@mechanicalfish was kind enough to re-code the entire highlight section for me, making it easier for me to add words with differnt color highlight.

I'll be working on that and hopefully get a version ready soon and if you like it we could add an extra feature, let's say color highlight check box?

Hi, first of all I'd like to thank to deadcode, smurf and everyone else willing to contribute in any way. This is what community is about.

I work as a Ruby on Rails coder but I'm also familiar with JavaScript and especially jQuery. I won't have much free time on my hands in the near future but I'm willing to contribute as much as I can.

I was thinking we should move to github, but seeing that there already is a Google code project, there is no need for that. Maybe we could create a feature request list there so all ideas can be easily found, discussed and possibly implemented.

Please add me to the list of comitters, my email address is [email protected]. Also, feel free to add me on Jabber/Gtalk/AIM.

I hope we can come up with some cool stuff soon :)

Good to have you on board. The feature request section is a good idea.

Btw; let me know if you need any help getting this stuff setup.
