at 8:58 AM, Thursday August 11, 2011 EDT i think its naive to claim that the economy's ups or downs are due to the president. america has been foolish for so long to believe this lie, and vote accordingly. the group that is at fault, imo, is the entire government as a whole. i really appreciated that S&P said something along those lines too, that they couldnt trust the us govt to get past bipartisan bickering and fix the budget.
so, even though im not an obama supporter, i wont pun the economy blame on him. i will blame our govt which seems too busy trying to slander the each other while allowing big corporations to do whatever the fuck they want since the big corporations have so much sway in whether politicians get re-elected. dammit now im in a bad mood. |

at 9:05 AM, Thursday August 11, 2011 EDT @Monte, I was being sarcastic in saying that Obama is doing a bad job with the economy. Despite the belief of the general populace that the president is responsible for the economy, I eschew that theory in favor of a more realistic approach. I was actually bored, and thought I would put some links to what appears to be good economic news just because the forum was getting boring.
Watch the Obama-haters tear this apart :) |

http://portalseven.com/employment/unemployment_rate_u6.jsp As Monte pointed out, neither unemployment nor the housing market are really affected by the President. |

at 1:01 PM, Thursday August 11, 2011 EDT The President has substantial short-run and long-run effects on the economy. He can veto legislation, he has considerable powers in regard to international trade, he appoints cabinet members who wield power in their respective domains, and he nominates judges and Justices.
