but actually there's this other strategy game that tom and i use to play often. I havent played it in years. I think it's called "conquer club" or something like that

i liked it for a while but i think they're still in beta. it's got a really legit dev team that generally listens if you have a good idea.

(its risk basically btw) but you can play real time (2-5minute turns) or with day long periods for turns

conquerclub has many of the things we've wanted here, but the free membership gameplay is quite slow; more along the lines of one turn a day.

If you're a member you can then play speed games which are more like kdice, but could still take a bit longer depending on the map size and number of players.

kdice advantages:
- community
- speed of game

conquerclub advantages:
- many more players
- modern/feature-rich forum
- games are recorded and can be reviewed by moderators
- useful feedback system
- achievements
- games with various numbers of people
- team games
- (optional) fog of war
- accurate elo scoring system
- player designed / tested/ submitted maps with many unique gameplay options
- both system and player organized tournament
- ongoing improvements from the developers

So, it all depends on what you're into. There's certainly a lot more players at cc, but many folks call kdice home strictly because of the community here, and there's nothing wrong with that.
