Hello everyone,

If I have 2 territories, 10 dice total, and they are far away (no possibility of connect), is it better to have:

1) 5 territories west and 5 territories east (1 die on each territory)

or 2) 5 territories west and 1 territory east (1 die on each western territory and 5 die on the lone territory east)

Assume that you can only choose (1) or (2), and you will win every roll to get to the position in (1) or (2).

Thanks.

two basing is bad, but in both these situations it looks like you're about to die. You have a better chance of survival with number 2.

2 obviously

In fact; I think 2 is almost advantageous. The 5 will only steal 3 before it is an 8 and then you have an 8 to potentially connect with, force flags, interfere with those growing at the same rate as you, and generally make everyone on that side of the board overly play more conservatively.

Neither is optimal and it really depends on the board. There's plenty of scenarios where I would just not make any moves in this position or just roll once. Barring an OTF neighbor where I can just vflag I don't think I could ever roll out my big stack like you suggested.

But yeah #2 is better because the distribution of dice goes to just 6 territories instead of 10 like in #1. Ultimately you get denser stacks with #2.
