at 6:53 AM, Thursday January 6, 2011 EST no worries jurgs ... there's 2 points here to consider though;
- what i and others that i have spoken to find frustrating is that we are all aware Jona cheated to get bronze, why is it still on the records and he is allowed to keep it - through either being caught or by his own admission, the depth of Jona's cheating is huge. He shows no remorse for it and finds it amusing at how much cheating he has done and how much he has gotten away with. What I would like to see is an IP ban rather than individual account bans. |

at 7:57 AM, Thursday January 6, 2011 EST matt, I see your point and I just agreed in another thread that a ban alone is hardly a punishment if the points are not reset but you can only take the actions that you can do
To be honest I didn't even try contacting Ryan to check what he thought about a point reset or not because I figured he would be enjoying his holidays and it would have been too late anyway. I will ask for point resets in the future if I think it's justified. And if you don't want people to look at the bans as a joke, you will have to make choices and changes someday to have more scary measures against cheating imo that's why BR's doctrine makes so much sense: how much does the ban of an account really hurt if you can keep playing with all your other alts? taking away points or medals look to be strong punishments too since that's what people actually care about. Or even permabanning a specific account is usefull. I have seen some players trying very hard to get an unban on an old account while they where totally free to play others. |

Jurgen, BR's doctrine is bullshit because such practice would essentially eliminate the use of main accounts (see: veta) and then everyone that cheated would just keep making new accounts. Keeping bans to the perpetrating accounts leaves banning a players main open as a final punishment (and thus an escalation of punishment for repeated offenses). |

at 12:37 PM, Thursday January 6, 2011 EST I like how BR still gets credit for that concept (banning people not accounts) because he called it a doctrine and annoyed the hell out of some people with it. Am I the only one that remembers Thrax saying he'd start banning people not accounts months earlier?
