technically you can only really flag in round 8 but some (read most) players can't wait until round 8 because they would get killed by you. So they verbally flag to you (also known as vflag) before it's round 8. They won't attack you and in theory they should take a lower place then you in most situations. Of course people can break their word.

Some people go as far as flagging in round1. What you do with them is up to you. some people consider accepting a vflag the same as having a truce.

as with real flags you aren't obliged to accept it but in some cases it's smart to accept them (just respond with ok + color or playername if you accept). A lot of interesting stuff about flagging can be found here http://www.kdice.com/blog/48

Take particular note of Comment #8 on the thread noted by Verms. But ignore the mod fight. After serious reconsideration, I have decided that linguistic transitivity does not imply causality. So the sentence "the man saw the galaxy" means, linguistically, that the galaxy was operated upon by the man, but in actuality, the man had no effect on the galaxy. In a similar way should be interpreted the expression, "X flagged to Verms".

I try to help noobs or post opinions/suggestions when I feel like it, I don't need an little A logo to keep doing what I like doing.

and I talked to Shevar, becoming advisor actually helped him retire for a while now so I am not sure becoming a mod is such a great idea
