Backstage doesn't mean that you get to chill with the artists. Often that just means that you get to sit on an empty case and get to watch the show from, gasp, behind the stage. If you're lucky you'll watch the band get on and off the stage. And if you're really lucky, they might say "hi" to you as they go on stage.

Although, going out with some of the artists after shows was quite fun. Girl Talk is quite funny when he's been drinking.
