Considering moving to the dark side... the inspiration for PGA and other K-observations

So I have played this game for several years. I played and went through the ordinary stages of kdice reality from learning the strategies to learning the players. From learning the methods of cheating to then calling out some of the worst offenders.

I quit the game for a while because once I was in the top arena, playing with the same top people, inherent PGA ensues. It's not good or bad, it's just reality. The "pecking order" of who's who becomes more important when it comes to who gets 2nd place. Friendships always trump vflags or anything else. Also, the predetermined winners in past months kinda sucked as well. (don't even get me started)

And maybe to my own demise, I never got involved in AIM or proxy.

But now, after trying to makes a serious run for top 10 this month, I have hit a major stumbling block. A block that truly pisses me off. This does not involve cheating. This does not involve anything else but the kdice probability program for luck and the random program for starting position.

Lets say that you are an average to experienced player, and things are going well for the month and you have a 49% luck rating and have played about 70 games. Also, lets assume you have over 8,000 points and your total % of game standings are as follows: 1st: 22% 2nd: 21% 3rd: 25% 4th: 15%.

Well, the above stats look like a pretty decent player. With a 49% luck rating, you cannot assume that the player was "overly lucky". Well, the above stats were exactly what I had about a week ago. I was having fun.

Then the dark cloud passed over and the frustration ensued. At about the time I played my 71st game, my starting position was sucky to shitty about 70% of the time. You know the feeling, being set in at least 3 corners of the board. On top of that, my starting place was 5-7 about 80% of the time. Furthermore, my defense luck in round 1 was non-existant. getting taken down 4v4 or 4v5 like it was nothing. My actual attack luck became just as poor. In most instances, I am left with a 5 stack, hit the neighboring 4 or 3 and BAM!!

So my 8,000 score get wittled down to 5,600 with no means of control.

While it sounds like I'm whining above, I'm not. I fucking hate whiners. All I'm trying to do is outline the core inspiration for cheating.

Any player that goes through that downward spiral of horrible luck that I described above, without even having to "factor in" the losses due to the cheaters out there, is ripe for a new strategy. IN WALKS MR. PROXY. IN WALKS MR. PGA. IN WALKS ZOID.

So if you know you have the skill to win. And you have to put up with all the bullshit that I have gone through. Screw it. Just cheat.

I think that you could equate PGA and AIM users to those people who buy characters in WOW. Why waste all those endless hours acquiring gold to buy stuff, when you can save a ton of time and play with your friends with a level 50+ night elf. I don't play WOW, but my nephews do and I have read about it.

So while there have to be rules in any society. There is always going to be some who break those rules. And now I completely understand both sides of the coin.

So who needs a PGA buddy?

Solution #2
-Take swing of bad luck as a character test. See if you have the ability to fight through the inevitable downswings in luck that we all go through. I play a lot of poker, and what you are experiencing is called 'tilt'. The trick is to learn to cope and still finish in the highest possible position you can, despite your poor luck (not by pga/proxy). Eventually your luck will turn around, and hopefully you have not let many games where you could have been 4th, end in 7ths because of your frustration.
[Personal anecdote DDDY, last month i had a stretch like yours for a while and was in danger of not getting a blue medal, then on the final 4 days I had 1st % of 38% to earn over 25k in one weekend]
In conclusion, I personally view KDice as more than just a fun way to pass the time. It is also a way to test ourselves, to find out how we react in pressure situations when time is short and pressure is high. It lets us see who we are when we are succeeding and also when we are failing. I find this game so fascinating because it allows you to see who people really are, and how they behave across a myriad of situations.
I guess the point of this diatribe is to ask you this...in the face of frustration and failure, are you someone that stoops to underhanded tactics such as cheating? Or do you take it in stride and do the best you can with what you have, while maintaining integrity and dignity? Perhaps the true measure of success in this game is not the accumulation of points and medals, but the choices we make on the path to achieving them.
Good luck!

DDDY this sounds like a whole bunch of whine. If you are going to PGA just make sure you have a friend of the mods in your group and you will do fine.

Now seriously go play and no more whine.

If you are playing for points you should PGA. However if you don't care for points it's much more fun to play at zero tables. There it's dog eat dog, almost no politics and you owe no one a favor.

i respectfully disagree with the idea that if youre not playing for points you should just play 0 tables. its much more fun to play high tables while not playing for points. then you can be like panzer, pge somebody for holy reasons, and that shit is fun!

tbh, its fun to watch ppl with a lot of points start to whine and squirm when you beat them on a high table, and then when they flag, you ram it up their ass while quoting Vermont, FLAGS ARENT AN INVINCIBILITY POTION. i did this to kendawg yesterday, and it was so much fun for me, and to top it off he ran away to the 500s.

i mean, most ppl at the high tables dont care so much for points, so its a relaxed setting, but if you find those that really are true pointwhores, its a joy to ride them until you break them.

i mean if you dont care for points, why not just play the highest tables possible all the time, and make it clear that you dont give a fuck about any "top player community" and you are here to wreck shit up. that method is tried and true, and it works. ppl will respect you for that. ask panzer.
