Tourament Scoring

Can someone help me out with the scoring within tournament games especially with how the side pots are distributed? I realize it likely gets a bit technical but I'm an engineer and can handle it.

Oh, I forgot Cody called them side pots.

Basically, if you make the player with the most points at the table finish last, it will allow the other players more opportunity to gain points. If you make the player with the least amount of points at the table finish last, it still leaves a lot of negative points to be had.

This occurance brings about the term "tourney strat". If you are a clear first for a game and have the opportunity to dictate who finishes in the lowest position, you may want to kill the player with the most points since this will net you more points for the win.
