Review the reviews section

Dear fellow kdicers,
I have been on kdice for quite a while now and have seen many evolutions on the site and the gameplay, mostly for the better. But there is one thing which is increasingly bothering me, i.e. the reviews section. This section is increasingly being used as a mere forum to address insults, some of - I would tend to say - rather grave nature. Definitely insults people would not be making in a face-to-face setup (or would result in trouble of some kind). The reviews at the kdice site are misused. For a start, it attracts mostly negative reviews from people who lost a game and feel somehow disadvantaged. Besides it also attracts people who make comments which aren't even related to the game. One of the severest examples lately (and it happened more than once) is the following. My avator is a picture of my daughter. In early days of kdice I would have gotten comments in the line of "cute", etc. Now I get comments ... well I won't repeat them here, but they do honestly disgust me. Anyway, I would suggest Ryan to do smthg about it and would invite all of you to propose improvements to the sections. If nothing can be realised and things stay this way, I fear that many will start turning their backs on kdice ... Good day to all, Mr B |

This will give great new fields of activities for the abuse of alts and some group action against single players... I'd suggest that comments get deleted after 6 months. Who cares for a comment that is 3 years old after all. |

oh and btw to make it more simple we should refer to players with numbers instead of names, for example Phoenix37 is 873195 and I am 574963 |

The suggestion to use a +/- rating system is a good one. To prevent abuse, definitely need to limit voting in some way. Possibilities include... 1) Each player can vote for another once. Period. B) Each player can vote for another once per day. 3) Each player can only vote for another player after having played them in a game. That is, at the end of each game, you can vote for each of your opponents. |
