ROLL OFFs - good or bad thing?

I'm posting this due to the Members Afternoon drama.

I actually think it's a very simple and pragmatic solution for difficult situations.
It may become a bit difficult when the participants of a potential roll off have more than two territories. Still it's the quickest and easiest way to solve difficult situations, namely when the players in question are too far away to fight. And especially when it's the last table.

Alternatives would be:
(1) Using tourney strat and killing the player with the most points OR when being close to the money eliminating players with few points.

(2) Letting the players in question fight no matter what. HOWEVER, sometimes, it's very dangerous for the leading players to allow that.
So if I have a lead and I would be cut too much, I would always go for the roll off to avoid revolts etc.

Roll Offs have nothing to do with skill and therefore are lame, but often it is the best solution.

Roll Offs are lame in almost all cases, and should only be applied when both players are of equal and small size and can not be connected to fight easily. In the case of two players of UNEQUAL size what should be instituted is what I call a roll down. Both players are attacked, once each turn, until one dies. This is more fair then a roll off, as the player who actually fought for their position, and theoretically has more lands, has a better chance. However if that player has bad luck, they can still loose. It does not reward sitting with 1-2 lands like rolloffs do, which is something we all agree is lame.
Rolldowns are more fair, just as easy, and should be implemented as a more just method of solving place disputes in tournies.

I think roll offs are a bad thing, and a new way for people to get rewarded without deserving it. if you are first and you cant tell who deserves a better position, maybe you shouldn't play :) Oh!...wait, if Im asking for a roll off , please consider it. You can call me a hypocrit later :)
Secondly, if noone rolls on the person that is sitting in the corner, then they will probably have more dom than the person that is in the middle and fighting everyone...so greekboy your system might be flawed. im sure everyone will agree that if you fight more you deserve better that someone chilling in the corner.
And
If you're in a tourney...always use tourney strat. And I think this should be added to tourney strategies !Kill most n00bs! especially the mean rascist ones! They are easily persuaded and will probably ruin your chance for a tourney win later...hmm... only after you persuaded them to take down the guys with the most pts, jk...but seriously, killing n00bs will help in the long run. They make retarded moves and they are always so freaking lucky!

and ninja flags are not always bad...sometimes they can help the person in first place decide where he/she should focus.
vflags: I think it's dumb to kill someone who flagged to you, you should let them grow and take some of the weight off your hands...but be careful and don't let them steal all your dom.

roll off is stupid because it demonstrates that the flag system isn't doing it's job
