So I'm not really one to make threads on here. For that matter, I don't like to complain about kdice too much...it's a game...so whatever. But something has to be done, so I'm taking a stand. I'm asking that anyone that agrees follows through on my vision of a revolution and a fix to what is ruining kdice.
The verbal flagging has to stop. Kdice has become a game of chicken to not be the last to flag. Verbal flagging, more specifically, worrying about someone else verbally flagging has mandated a revision to strategy that has both sucked the fun out of kdice and made us all more concerned with proper flagging strategy than anything else. This is the first time I've ever posted in the forums and it will likely be my last. I have been playing kdice, often too much, for years now...my career rank is 141. I'm asking that before every game we start with a chat that says join the revolution. Until it catches on maybe we add...no flagging until it is actually available. And follow through by attacking anyone who violates by verbal flagging. Even a resurgance of truce's would be better than this; at least then we draw sides and ACTUALLY FIGHT. I started doing this tonight and the games were immediately better. No one likes what kdice turned into, but without group acceptance we are crippled by our opponents ability to flag to whomever they are exposed to. Start your games with join the revolution if agree. JOIN THE REVOLUTION!!!!!! |

at 9:22 PM, Wednesday June 17, 2009 EDT i agree 100%. vflagging has turned this game into an exercise in meekness. it's fairly pathetic.
i mentioned it (you know, "the revolution") in the last game i was in and several people were into it... and there were no vflags in that game, interestingly enough. if you believe in the "cause", spread the word. tell people at the table to "join the revolution" and then explain what it entails. lastly, be sure to attack players that vflag - when people realize that vflags aren't a bulletproof vest, they'll (hopefully) adjust their strategy and take vflagging out of it. let's make KDice fun again! at 12:23 PM, Thursday June 18, 2009 EDT I'm liking the idea of moving from vflags.
I've started game chat by stating my desire, and asking all to not vflag. I've also been asking folks to continue that by at least contemplating having everyone attack the first vflagger. If people are nervous about being the first to vflag, then it's less likely for folks to vflag. I'd like to see everyone play just one game per day, where you attack the first person to vflag. Just do this on one game, I bet we see vflagging reduce in frequency. Join the revolution folks, mess with the minds of your opponents! |

at 3:25 AM, Friday June 19, 2009 EDT Yeah, all this strategy thing and negotiation and stuff is just bullshit. Let's get it down to pure straight luck, if you don't have it, you just suck. Take it.
We could also just speed the game up. All this 30 turns rolling and hoping and stuff. As we don't want strategy, why not roll off in 1st turn and that's it. The 1st 2 numbers in all players 1st roll count and the game is over. That would make it quick, not so talkative and based purely on luck. I love the idea. FUCK THE REVOLUTION!!!!!! P.S. Note for the humor impaired: there is irony in the writing above... |

at 4:01 PM, Friday June 19, 2009 EDT Louis is right. Why leaving it to the dice?
Whoever thinks the players' destiny should be left to the dice is a complete nutjob! Why rolling dice when people can negotiate the outcome of the game by the 3rd round. If the dice disagree, we should not pay attention to them. Who cares about the dice anyways?. That would make sense in a dice game, but not here. Deciding the outcome of the game early on is good for the game, it saves time. That is smart! Smart people do that! Planning stategies in a randomly changing environment. That is silly! Kindergarten stuff! Nothing for smart and skillful kpoliticians and kdiplomats like us. If people still insist in using the dice, well, we can leave 5th, 6th, and 7th to be decided by the dice. |

at 7:28 PM, Thursday June 25, 2009 EDT I'm bumping this becuase it has worked every time I've done it. Simply saying; join the revolution...no flags till they are actually available has change the dynamic of play every time. There is only one reason...i don;t really try to push it...everyone likes it!
