at 8:05 AM, Thursday June 11, 2009 EDT To define, a lake in kdice - or klace, is map based white space which is surrounded by land on all sides (not to be confused with the ksea).
A lake is considered held when a single player controls all those lands which immediately surround the lake. When considering the quality of a klake one must consider the following points; 1. Lake size 2. Geographical position 3. Number of lands required to hold (aka lake effeciency). 4. Total number of lakes on the map Only by taking into account all the above is it possible to determine the worth of each individual lake and the length to which you should go in order to capture one, or indeed more. |

at 8:43 AM, Thursday June 11, 2009 EDT buaka: Points #1 and #3 would seem to be the same, since attributes of the size of a klake other than how many countries border it would be of no effect.
Klakes bordered by one country do not exist. Klakes bordered by two or three countries confer no advantage, since such klakes could be filled in without changing the adjacency matrix of the countries. Klakes of higher order confer an advantage on defense, but not on offense. Since 2-klakes and 3-klakes have the same value, perhaps a number measuring klake strenghth of order K would be the Fibonnaci number of order K-1, thus: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, starting with a klake of order 2. |
