Kingdom Hearts vs. Kingdom Hearts II

So, after playing a considerable amount of Kingdom Hearts this past week after classes ended I ask: Which is better?
The gameplay of KH2 is considerable worse than KH1. The most annoying of aspect of the second game is the camera. In the first Kingdom Hearts, the camera was rotated only using L2 and R2. While an older idea, unlike the modern Halo design withe the double joysticks, it worked out well. The right joystick was used for navigating the action commands. It worked out well because you could use a potion, or cast magic, while running. The new KH uses the right joystick to swivel the camera. I'm finally getting used to this, 30 hours later, but I've died many ties while the camera swivels instead of casting Cure on myself. And Cure! In the first game it worked much like Cure of RPGs. It was simple. But in the second Kingdom Hearts, they screwed it up. Big time. Casting Cure takes all of your MP. While this can be beneficial when you are low on MP, the lag time from casting it and then again is terribly slow. There's an ability that allows you to continue casting Cure even when you get hit, which helps, but you no longer can cast Cure when in the air. It's incredibly frustrating. I believe that the plot is better in Kingdom Hearts II. There's the whole is Roxas or Sora real or exist, or whatever, a la FFVII. I think that the worlds are better in the second game as well. The black and white Steamboat Willy level was awesome. But the second game also has the worst level, the digital level plays like the movie Hackers. The triangle button serves as an action button, which was welcomed. I also like the ability to open up chests in battle, which really bothered me from the first game, because after enemies were killed I would have to wait around for the music to change just to open up the chest. However, the designer that put both the limit button and the action item together are an idiot. If I pressed the triangle button at the wrong time, not only did I have to sit through the limit (which was generally useless during some boss fights), but I'd lose the ability to use Cure. Which was stupid. Summons I think are better in the second game. As is the Drive command. Being able to dual wield keyblades is badass. I do miss the dodge roll with the square button, from the first to the second game it was removed. I think abilities were done much better in the first game. Especially the global ones like Soar, and Double Jump. And lastly, I can't believe that they got rid of Mandy Moore as Aerith. I'm sure I forgot others, but my hamburgers are done, and I thought I'd write this while I grilled. Discuss. |
