so, i was in a game, just a pissy 0 table.
myself being red and blue (guy called moop) were kinda stuck nect to each other fairly early with a couple 5 and 6 stacks each. make no sense to attack, therefore i CLEARLY stated in the chatbox about trucing. he accepted, then i lost a horrible 5v3 which left me pretty weak. obv everyone at the table screamed for a counter which, although i hate, is the expected move. luckily a managed to get 3 territories to 8 stack but while i was doing so, moop was clearly the strongest and the counter truce was a fail and ppl started flagging. before i lost the horrible 5v3, i know myself and moop wud have wiped the board in 5 or so rounds and battled for 1/2. now, my question is...with 6 players left on the board, playing as moop, wud u... a. give ur truce partner (me) 2nd? b. respect the failed counter truce and respect their flags or c. other...please state awe |

at 6:35 PM, Friday May 1, 2009 EDT you deserve at least 3rd, but if you are 2nd or 3rd really depends on how the game played out. in this scenario i would say 2nd

at 10:41 PM, Saturday May 2, 2009 EDT truce > flag unless there is a special situation where giving another player the 2nd makes more sense. Generally when I'm in this circumstance, I'll offer it over to my trucemate to concede 2nd and take 3rd in order to end the fight. Many times, if the strongest guy on the counter team isn't happy with 3rd because he is still so large, he might come after the weak trucemate and end his game in much worse position.
I lay out my stance on flags and truces in my profile statement... and in it, I say truce > flags except certain situations where it makes sense... and this is what I normally go by. Oh... and when I'm in the position of being the weak trucemate, I will often offer up myself to go at a lower place (3rd or possibly 4th) when the circumstances are correct. It kinda sucks to put that on your truce partner to enforce when it doesn't make sense. |

Calling a truce, rather than a verbal flag, was the right play here. It was honourable to at least declare your intentions, and accept a possible counter truce. I'm not concerned about the rest of the game, but a big thanks from me for using the correct terminology and having some guts. |
