yeah i miss cody and all, but i dont think anything he did warrants a table named for him for all k-eternity.

Cody, loved this game and community more than anything else. He helped build the larger community and many of the long term relationships that exist to this day.

He helped lead the campaign to dethrone the dreaded RND, the dictator who ruled over n00bs; all of us with an iron fist.

When he was on good terms with Ryan he helped many players who were having problems that normally Ryan would have been too busy to help.

He was often talking with and helping Ryan on test server during major changes in the game. And from what I've heard -- he originally encouraged Ryan to create Xsketch.

When they got along, I always heard that Ryan respected Cody and valued his input on the game.

Also before Ryan changed the table system Cody always had the high table every month because he gave Ryan more money than anybody else to support Kdice.

True after the "developer stars" started giving point bumps others contributed more. But back when giving Ryan money gave you no points or privileges Cody spent every dime he could trying to support Ryan. So much so that I heard that Ryan started feeling guilty and offered him a job promoting the site.

Seems to be me there are good reasons for a permanent table.

Not trying to be argumentative just pointing that out.

you know i know all of this Mikey... but you know i know all the negative things cody did around here too... lets just say that most of the bridges that he built, he also burned down. and then peed on.

as many times as i saw him and Ryan getting along and collaborating, just as many times i saw him annoying the crap out of Ryan too.

i mean, i know he was a positive influence in the community, this much is obvious by the number of cody avatars still smoking around out there (even in gpokr!).

i know its not my place to put words in a dead mans mouth, but i realllllly think cody wouldnt give a shit about having a table named after him, and would probably tell xc to stfu, that he doesnt care.

what do you think cody would want?

i mean, im trying to think what cody would want, not selfishly of how i think cody should be remembered.

There's no reason not to have a Cody table. Seems like a simple/good thing.

"what do you think cody would want?"

I don't know. I can't speak for him.

I do know that he viewed Kdice as his community -- as his home -- so I think having something on the site with some permanence is not an unusual memorial.

But like I said, Monte, I wasn't trying to be confrontational. Its no big deal. I was mainly trying to point that stuff out to readers of the forum. I know you know that stuff already.

Besides I am sure Ryan will have the table up and running again like he did after the last XC posting.

Respectfully,

Mikey

you're an asshole monte. i thought your ignorance stopped at kdice tables but obviously not.
i cant understand how ppl can be insensitive to something like this. I dont believe it would cause ryan any trouble to at least keep it up for a while. it was only three months ago when all of this happened.
You guys really are not good ppl. regardless of if ryan liked or disliked cody, you would think that he had enough respect for his community that he would honor their wishes. And why should it matter to you if there was a cody table or not, if you dont want to see it, go to another table. damn.

i dunno, maybe you hit the nail on the head johnson. maybe i am an asshole.

to be honest, at the root of who i am, i disagree with the idea of honoring someone who chose to commit suicide in real life. i dont like glorifying suicide.

if no one was clamoring for a cody table while he was still alive, what does suicide add to the justification? i would be more understandable if he had died in some other way, but suicide sort of goes against my principles.

i realize this is a touchy subject. but please dont get all huffy over it, because im pretty sure cody wouldnt. but we'll never know.

I dont think its glorifying or condoning suicide. Regardless of how they die, people still want to honor their friends.
