I have an idea for a new scoring system that in my opinion could change kdice from a great game to a fantastic game. I was thinking that instead of the leaderboard being based on the amount of points accumulated each month it should be based on the ppg of players. This would solve a lot of problems with the current system. Players would now strive for the highest position possible and the problem of v-flagging would be significantly reduced. It would dramatically increase the emphasis of the game on skill rather than how many games you can play a month. And it would be a pretty easy system to impliment too as you would still have all the same tables, scoring system would not need to be changed just the way people gain points. Or better still having two seperate leaderboards one for ppg and one for accumulated points and seperate trophies for each at the end of the month. That way everyone who cant play 600 games a month has something to aim for and I think both systems would work great together. The only problem that I can see with the ppg system is that we would need to decide a minimum number of games for the month to be played to be eligible for the leaderboard. I know you are busy with the kdice trainer at the moment but I'm hoping you could post your reaction to it. Any other views on this system would be welcome.

yeah, i like this whole 2 scoreboards deal

maybe we have a monthly reset, but still have an ELO type ranking?

One problem is that if you got to 5000 tables played and won 1 game there is no incentive to play another. We saw this point sitting a bit with ELO where the top players were stagnent.

I'm listening though to ideas on scoring that aim to put less emphasis on # of games.

I've definitely been thinking about putting in an ELO stat.

i like to see elo next to the current pointsystem. just so people can get used to it.

hmm that is a valid point. My solution would be if you don't play for a certain number of days you mantain your ppg but are dropped from the ppg leaderboard. This would encourage players to continue to play to mantain their position on the leaderboard.

so, you could maybe make a minimum to show up on the leaderboard like you do with most defensive and most offensive?

like maybe a 50 game minimum?

i wasnt really around for the ELO days, so im not really aware of the flaws in the system, but the way the current system is set up, the person who wins the month is usually the mediocre player with a lot of freetime, not necessarily the best player. maybe you could make some sort of scoring that rewarded consistent good play, so that a guy who plays 10 games at 1000 ppg doesnt have the same score as someone who plays 1000 games at 10 ppg

50 game minimun sounds good. you could expand the leaderboard to top 25 ppg and award seperate trophies for it. would be an incentitive to players who can't play +400 games a month
