The original Fiero...

would have actually been called the "Pontiac Pegasus" which would have been the 2nd time Pontiac had tried to introduce that model. (The original Pegasus was created in 1972 as a concept with a 4.5-liter Ferrari v-12 engine...but never made it to production lines based on low affordability and a bad market)

Before releasing the Pontiac 'Pegasus' 12 years later, Pontiac received intel that the 'Pegasus' would still have a bad stigma from the orginal concept car, and so the name was changed to 'Fiero.'

Due to time the limited time between the name being changed and being released into production, the emblem was never changed, which is why the Fiero emblem has a winged horse...a Pegasus.

(editors note : the special production (never came anywhere close to being mass produced) Indy Fiero was modeled in 1987 (my birth year :) ) with Ferrari engine which produced 600 hp to the wheels, the first 600 hp machine by GM. 600 hp of pure American beast.

Fiero...600 the legend

technically, if it had a ferrari engine in it, you cant call it a pure american beast.

btw, my pure american beast is a 90-hp diesel jetta. by beast, i mean galapagos turtle.
