Who thinks truce and alliance are two different things? Truce is a strategy that you offer someone not to attack to you,and vice versa...On the other hand,alliance is that you work together to dominate the table,which should be countered imho...Pre-post-ingame alliances all suck,but just so you know trucing and/or flagging does not mean that the other one will help you against your enemy,its just cease fire between two parties...Is that difficult to understand,or am i totally wrong with the terminology?

Truce = Alliance
Flagging = You are done and not going for higher then your flag, person you flag to owes you nothing.

the proper definition of a truce is indeed a cease-fire, however in kdice its just the same as an alliance.

From the dictionary;
A ceasefire (or truce) is a temporary stoppage of a war or any armed conflict, where each side of the conflict agrees with the other to suspend aggressive actions.
alliances - An agreement between nations in which each nation agrees to do certain things towards a common goal. This often means supporting each other in war.
Now kdice terminology sucks :)

So master, you think offering a truce to a partner shouldn't be countered? There will be two parties specifically attacking everyone on the table except for each other, and that doesn't deserve a counter?

good point thrax.

truce = alliance cause you are supposed to be at war

Yeah good point indeed Thrax,but my point was not that it shouldn't be countered...I wanted to say that the truced parties expect the other to help against others which is not cool and should not be expected when you say "we are truced"...I come across many angry players that tells me: "we were truced why don't u help me,screw you"... :)

I understand your point now.

Welcome to kLingo, where truce = partnership.

What I find funny is that of the common place 5 team counter WHATEVER the size of the original alliance.

So you have the 2 weakest players form an alliance and the 5 stronger counter even though they aren't particularly a threat.

Yes I wondered that a long time back and simply went with what the kdice players believed it to be... here is my interpretation of the relevant terms:

truce: Help each other obtain the best positions possible

flag: attempting a cease-fire with those above me or the player I name, but I do not want a higher position than them

Then there are the 'cool' terms... which depend on situation (and are open to ambiguity and can cause confusion, especially among newer players).

I'm cool: It is a cease-fire with player next to you... *generally* due to the fact that they are larger and you want them to leave you alone

Are we cool?: It is a cease-fire with player next to you... generally because you two would kill each other if you fought, so it is in both party's best interest. This may be a truce or may just be a cease-fire, it takes trust and an understanding of the situation/
player to know which.

If you aren't sure, ask... but you often do not want to draw attention to any of these, as they will often draw counters. :)
