Ryan,
one of the most consistent concerns the community has mentioned is the lack of a modern forum for discussion. This has led to many issues, of which I'll just list a few here: * New players cannot find answers to questions. * Similar posts occur over and over again because no one can find what they're looking for. * Posts dealing with strategy discussions, cheating accusations, the upcoming episode of Lost, new user questions, etc., are all grouped together. I can understand that you do not want to host your forum somewhere else and you want control. Please consider using one of the available open source forums out there. You can: * Still host it locally * Still modify and control the source code when needed * Have your site have the same forum features of your competitors * Save massive amounts of development time in this area * Use a tested, robust, product You certainly have more than one option. Consider, just as a couple examples: http://getvanilla.com/ http://www.yabbforum.com/ You may also want to read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_forum#Common_features It's a minimal list of common features, of which kdice/gpokr/xsketch has none. Please take this as a suggestion from someone who really wants things to be better. Perhaps others would (nicely!) state if this is also something they would appreciate. Regards, Vermont |

"Dear Ryan, Please give us a search feature in the forums so we each don't have to read through a 100 pages of forum threads in order to dialogue like a normal community. I just want to talk to ma1 about earlier efforts like his in order to help him in his endeavor. And it just seems silly that every other game site and content site, hell ANY OTHER WEB SITE on the internet has been able to integrate a search feature. Not trying to be a douche Ryan. Just trying to promote a strong community and build a base of support for your community. -ypoo" Ryan I have recieved pledges from ten players that they will get year long memberships if you can put in a search feature. I know that sounds cheesy and meaningless but I'm not sure what to do at this point Ryan. For every post I write I spend ten times the effort looking up old ones. Thanks for listening, Sorry I am a Crank tonight. --Ypoo |
