Unofficial Team Play

Ryan has said that he is working on a team play area for kdice... but who knows when this will be finished. I hear all the time people wanting to try team play....

You know... it's not exactly impossible to get an unofficial team game started. It would take a little organization, but we could do it, if there was serious interest. Here is what I would propose:

Everyone that wants to play the team kdice creates a new alias... one that is consistant, like [tp]ma1achai and [tp]yellowfin.

These accounts are not looking for points... all games will be played on zero level tables and if your alias gets too many, bomb it. We can work out in forums good times to play... and win/loss can be kept in the forum too.

One obsticle would be avoiding other random people from joining a game when we are trying to seat teams... Perhaps Ryan could just set up some 6-man tables that do not show up in the regular play list... we can go directly to them by name??? It would actually be great if those table did not give or take points as well....

Players sit alternating according to team so that there is not two from the same team in a row. What else?

It would be a little work, but could be fun.

we could mess with this on the demo server too, Ryan... :)

ma1 what you describe has been proposed and attempted many times. Ryan has 'mega banned' when he found out. Ask Cody and Alan...

Perhaps Ryan has changed what he thinks about it. But he was VERY negative about similar proposals in the past. The concern as you pointed out was that random players might get caught in the mix.

that is why either the seperate tables that are not in the table list or the demo server would be perfect... you cant wander into these without knowing what you are doing...

I believe the topic of having these unofficial teams on a separate set of tables or in a sandbox has come up also. If I recall correctly, Ryan was no persuaded.

However, Ryan talked about someday having team ranking based on individual play stats, grouped by official teams, but that was a long time ago, so my memory may be off.

One problem for Ryan is that he hasn't had the time or energy to implement a system like the one you are describing.

So first you would have to convince him to do it and then convince him to prioritize it over his iphone app and his meta-game platform idea

I'm not trying to discourage you just letting you know what you are up against.

I think it would be an awesome idea!

Dear Ryan,

Please give us a search feature in the forums so we each don't have to read through a 100 pages of forum threads in order to dialogue like a normal community. I just want to talk to ma1 about earlier efforts like his in order to help him in his endeavor. And it just seems silly that every other game site and content site, hell ANY OTHER WEB SITE on the internet has been able to integrate a search feature. Not trying to be a douche Ryan. Just trying to promote a strong community and build a base of support for your community.

yeah... the forums here always turned me off... so much whining and complaining. So it does not surprise me that that has been tried before and failed without my noticing... oh well.

Don't listen to that douche ypoo. Don't get discouraged. PUSH IT PUSH IT. You can make it happen. IF WE STAND FIRM AS ONE COMMUNITY. And not call each other names. We can do a lot. Keep working at it. I recommend you go to tables tell everybody to make comment or send an email to Ryan. You can do this. doucheYpoo is just a nervous nelly.
