And I'm not just talking about lack of a next page button at the bottom or lack of stickies, hot threads, a search function, sorting, or any of the things any other forum has. Hell, I'm not even talking about something that is Ryan's fault. To be honest we are the only ones to blame, for some reason over the last year we seemed to have lost our way. What happened to the Mikey threads? The Drawball threads? Hell even the Leek threads. For some reason the forums now are stagnant, filled with cheating accusations and ideas that Ryan will never read or care about.
I propose a form of forum enlightenment. How about the Kommunity actually helps itself for once, there used to be threads on strategy, political discussion, people used to keep threads bookmarked and updating them. Les is Retarded threads are great, but they only last a day. I've read more threads from 07 that have been bumped than good threads from 08-09. Let's start up the trivia thread again, or have civilized discussions on topics. I can't be the only person tired of reading what seems to be a good argument trashed by things like "your opinion doesn't count, you are a cheater" or "You are an idiot". Perhaps it's because it's 5am and I'm low on sleep but I just want something more. We spend so much damn time on this site, how about we enrich it a little. Thoughts? |

How about a phpBB or vBulletin forum? (Probably has been brought up before) |

at 3:02 PM, Monday January 19, 2009 EST Ryan doesn't want any code he didn't write due to concerns about performance. (I'd link to the post but, well, I'd have to be able to search to find it.)
However, I'm willing to bet some of the open-source forums don't have too many performance issues. We're not exactly talking hundreds of thousands of simultaneous hits here. Even if we were, I'd rather trust something proven to be robust in multiple environments. |
