According to the Merriam-Webster, a truce is:

"a suspension of fighting especially of considerable duration by agreement of opposing forces: armistice, cease-fire"

my interpretation from this definition is that the trucing parts have no obligation to help each other. What most people call "truce" on Kdice would actually be an alliance (at least this is what they expect from you).

Any thoughts on that, especially from native english speakers? I mean, is it legal to deny help to a player you truced with based on a dictionary definition, or the real-world usage of the word is in fact as a synonym for alliance?

Cheers

Well, as a non-native-english I must say this:

Who cares?

A truce in kdice is a truce in kdice is a truce in kdice.

Thats all what counts.

I truce btw ... ;-)

You would be correct on both parts. A truce declared by 2 players, ceases fighting between them, at least until the truce partners are only territories left. they are not obligated to help each other, but they will for their joint benefit.
