K-Dicers,
Have you made the distinction between tournament play and regular play yet? It seems that although tournament play is new, you are slow at seeing the new "game" that a tournament becomes. Daily (or whenever I play tournaments), people get bitched at for weak play, early flags, early truces, and attacking flags. At a regular table, this play is looked down upon. In a tournament situation, this play is necessary. Need proof? Ask anyone who is the weakest, shittiest, worst playing back stabbing stupid moving player in tournaments. You will get my name. Look at the last 10 tournaments I played. I cashed out in 9 of them. For those who don't want to look, proof below. From now on, stop bitching about tournament play in tournaments. You have yet to realize the difference between normal games and tournament games. When you figure it out, then you can bitch about my play once you see what "good" play really is. Welcome to KDice, a multiplayer social strategy online game based on Risk and Taro Ito's Dicewars. StudiousGangster I like my hos like my exams, easy with big curves. at 1:37 AM, Tuesday December 30, 2008 EST i havent seen you in a tourny but im sick and tired of all the pga and(probably worse) those like kevin143 who yells for teamates as soon as the game starts. every game. i watched him doit 3 games in a row. what is the point of playing if all you do is chase points?
this is why i wont play a tourny for over 100 because all you hi point guys stick together. there is no denying it. if there are 3 guys left and the 2 play together alot they will team against the other guy every single time. |

at 4:21 AM, Tuesday December 30, 2008 EST I've been in the final 3 of about 6-8 tournies over the 2 months and in nearly every game peoeple 2v1 the highest which is really unfair as the person who earned the points prior, is then teamed so that people with no point advantage can conquer the tournament.
I understand why, but it's still really unfair. Two Examples: 1. December 27th 100 Daily. Final 3: Carlisle, Crispier, nunes. In the first round after the three, I had the most points by quite a bit, and nunes straight away jumped at "we needa get rid of 1st" So i fought my hardest, though fortunately, I had all the good starts so this failed... Though players are quick to backstab or not to take part, because Crispier who was looking like a 3rd place, ended up 2nd because of me killing nunes first every round. However, for someone this didn't work: 2. December 28th 100 Daily. Final 3: RabidWomble, Gauntlet15, Rhythm. I was watching them play and was really not suprised to see Gauntlet15 and Rhythm truce to get rid of 1st in the 1st round of final. RabidWomble (clear winner by like 5000 points) was trying his/her best but to no aveil as quickly Gauntlet15 took control of the game. Though in a fight for 2nd (which woulda saved one of them) RabidWomble began to lose, so Gauntlet began to defend him, turning against his ally, who was nearest to him in points. Thus eliminated Rhythm and leaving Womble with 50 points against Gauntlet's 7000. In 2 tournaments, in 2 days the whole unfair play of the tournament is visible, even in rounds 1-4 you see people aiming teal/brown/blue so they can get more points. But in conclusion what SG says is right, tournament play has much difference to normal play. Though it also gives a sense of excitement when you are near the end of the tournament, and ready to win points :P |

at 7:30 AM, Tuesday December 30, 2008 EST @ Shevar - I'm not sure if anonymity works if people can still identify themselves on the chatbox. Killing the chatbox, on the other hand, would be a far too long shot in my opinion;
@ Carlisle - since you mentioned my name on it, I must rectify your first example. I warn every other reader that this is an issue between me and Carlisle, and you may want to stop reading here if you are not interested in personal disputes. To the facts. - "In the first round after the three, I had the most points by quite a bit" Wrong. I was first. It's a fact, not an opinion. - "nunes straight away jumped at 'we needa get rid of 1st'". Never said anything like that. On the table with 3 finalists, Carlisle promised flagging to me for 2nd (this is common on tables with fewer players, since the game is ususally settled before people are allowed to actually flag), and I moved my big stacks to kill Crisp, who was 3rd. After I finished it, Carlisle backstabbed me, but failed on his second attack, which allowed me to kill him as well. On the next table, I said to Crisp that "I wouldn't mind taking Carlisle out first" since he didn't honor his word, to which Crisp replied "Ok". I read that as an agreement that would benefit both me and Crisp, who was in a very fragile 3rd place. We didn't attack each other for the next rounds. - "So i fought my hardest, though fortunately, I had all the good starts so this failed..." That's true. I was the first one who congratulate you, still on the table, remember? - "Crispier who was looking like a 3rd place, ended up 2nd because of me killing nunes first every round" Untrue. I was flagging 3rd out in favor of Crisp, who I thought to be my partner at the time and would be out if got 3rd. You were trying to kill Crisp first every round, which was strategically wise, but I wouldn't let you. You also recognized that yourself on the chatbox. Well, some tables ahead Crisp said that he had "nothing to do with my PGE", letting me in a quite difficult situation. Since this is a post directed to Carlisle, i won't point my finger at Crisp. All I want to point is that there was never a "needa get rid of 1st" situation. There are so many flaws on this first example that I cannot but be sceptical about the account of the second one. Anyway, I just wrote this because I see that Carlisle is trying to play the triumphant victim role. He triumphed indeed, but was no victim at all. |
