The guts-per-game (GPG) is the ratio of a player's earned points (games x PPG) to the convolution integral (the number of earned points the player would be expected to have from his percentage stats if he had played only at the zero level table, where the buy-in is 60 points). Total dedication to the game is total buy-in, or GPG x games.
Here are the top 100 (who have played at least one game) arranged by GPG. Since the convolution integral is not perfectly accurate, it can lead to spurious results if it is small, or it is of opposite sign to the player's PPG. In the list below, the convolution integral is limited to the values 10.0 to 1.0. at 3:08 PM, Sunday December 7, 2008 EST imanema shows up twice because there was a shift in his ranking during the time I was downloading the leaderboard, which can be done a max of 25 players at a time.

at 8:10 PM, Sunday December 7, 2008 EST I goofed on my limits for the GPG. The upper limit should be 100, not 10, but the value of 100 is likely never to be reached except by players who play exclusively at 5000 level tables. So kdiceking*s GPG is 50, not 10. I will fix up the error on my next report.

What goes on the leaderboard and players' stat pages is up to Ryan. My philosophy as to what should go on the leaderboard and players' stat pages is whatever measures activity that should be encouraged. For examples, if you want players to play more games, emphasize things that are more significant when more games are played (such as total points, total buy-in, total kills), and de-emphasize things that are more significant when fewer games are played (luck, PPG). |

at 2:01 PM, Tuesday December 9, 2008 EST As a player who liked to play a lot of games, I agree with you! I play a lot of 100 games when there isnt a lot of 500 games available. I wonder if that costs me in the rankings. But some .. "more games played stats" might be solace for that.
