if you truce someone you don't know (or someone you do know, actually?) in a tournament game and, due to the social nature of tournaments and favourable placement in tables, end up collaborating with them in a few consecutive games, is this foul play?

sorry, the line should say "and/or favourable placement etc"

h'mm. i've seen it happen a few times and it was treated as a valid strategy by all the players on the tables concerned.

I 'd just see it as bullshit play. Do teams win world champions by calling truces for a couple games?

What about when someone is in the final game of a round and is outnumbered 25 to 5 and they drag out the game purposely just because he/she enjoys pissing ppl off. Then everyone decides to kill him next round to avoid having him waste more of ppl's time in the future of that particular tournament. I've seen that happen a couple times. Is that cheating?

If you truce someone in chat for legitimate strategic in-game reasons in consecutive games, then it is legit.

If you truce them secretly or as a result of considerations for previous / subsequent games, then it is not legit.

The specific evidence used against the people who have been punished by Ryan is weak or nonexistent, but it should be noted that Ryan has not punished people who did not deserve it for previous offenses.

Ryan had more than enough evidence to ban these people before the tournaments began. It was odd timing though because I think montecarlo and madhat sam have recently shown to be more fair than most players.

If you have never relied on secret pre-existing relationships to determine the outcome of games, then I doubt Ryan will punish you. If you constantly rely on secret pre-existing relationships to determine the outcome of games, then you probably shouldn't play any tournaments.
