Tournaments are not a measure of how well you play this game. The point system makes it so going up early gives you a disadvantage, and if you dont have as many points as the next guy, you dont have as many points to give by losing first. Tournaments are a joke once you get past the first two, three rounds. And this is a "legit" strategy since the points make it so no one feels bad disrespecting flags. It isn't even the so-called top players, it is everyone who has a brain. I've seen top players get screwed by players without a single medal executing this strategy correctly. Something will need to change drastically before I ever play another tourney.

at 1:57 AM, Wednesday November 12, 2008 EST I'm not sure if this is the best way to do it either, but possibly a double-elim tourney without points would go a little ways towards eliminating this strategy. This strategy arises solely from how points are doled out, so without points, this strategy is eliminated, and respecting flags may be restored to tournament play. Of course, I'm not sure what other types of strategies would arise from not having points, but there is nothing worse than the system that is currently going on.

at 8:52 AM, Wednesday November 12, 2008 EST ou could still have the same point system in the background, just not display the leaderboard. That way people won't know who has what score.
