My problem: I win 2 games got 100 points... next game i lose and i got 50 points...and so on...to get better need to win 3 or 4 games...its really difficult I had about 4 times more than 100 points but then i can only play 2 games and than i got 0 points.... that sucks really!
..i have a good idea to rescue kdice... Just set the buy in for Level 0 tables to 0... I think its best to shar all points between 1st, 2nd and 3rd... so we got 7 players -> 7*50=350 points 1st -> 200, 2nd -> 100, 3rd 50 ponits and all the others 0 points...so if buy in on level 0 tabels is 0 and althought win points... so everone can earn ponits without paying buy in... In my optionion kdice is less funny because the most of the players got 0 ponits... so if everyone can easy erarn points on level 0 tabels it makes mor fun...and if someone will getin better he has to pay buy in...and on all other tabels there is no paroblem becaus everone can afford the buyin... really easy to cahnge and i think great success... |

at 10:07 AM, Wednesday November 5, 2008 EST Interesting idea, but it's basiclly just the same as it's now. Scoring should reflect the real-time performence of the player. Not just at the end hand out a generic score.
The good thing about that is, that you get a wide range of diffrent tactics. If only 1,2,3 position is awarded thats the only thing people will play for. The way the game was before these recent chances, if I was at a loss I could play to reduce points. If I was dominant I could choose to completely dominate for a big score or play it save and make sure I get 1st position. There where a whole range of different choices to make and to consider what my enemies would do. More psychological. Now it's just like Dicewars. Count, calculate and hope. Not one of those things is particulare appealing in a game. |

at 2:27 AM, Thursday November 6, 2008 EST hmmm yes thats right... but...
I often play Poker, there you pay a buy (for example 10$) in and most of the time you lose. But if you win you got min. 50$ so you can play another 5 games in order to win min. one of them. (and then you gain some money) But imagine a poker game you pay buy in of 10$ andif you win you got 10$ !!?!?!?...that sucks... nobody would play it... so I thoght... Kdice is played only because its not real money... A second problem is solved by my cahnge namly that on a table only sits people witch have the same premises (requirements)... so it's impossible to have 5 players got 0 points can win but can't lose points and 2 players which payed 50 points buy in can lose this 50 points and can also win some points... |

the bare truth is, you aren't doing too well this month... I mean 50% 7th in 102 games...yikes. My first advice to you: don't give up too easily, try to be patient. If you have a bad start, accept it, don't take all risky moves to try and maybe get 2nd or 3rd (IF those risky rolls work). It's maybe less fun but play smarter and be more patient. Focus on smaller players and try to get 3rd,4th or even 5th. Especially on the lower tables where there is no dom points to gain (:-(), your bad starts can only improve from taking a slower and safer approach. points on 0 table are zero sum so 1st (only) gets 50; 2nd 35; 3rd 25; 0;-25;-35 and -50 for 7th. If you have 1/7 games 1st; 1/7 games 2nd;...; 1/7 games 7th, you will have earned zero points. So the key is to get more 1st places than 7th; more 2nd than 6th; more 3rd than 5th. It's only a beginning but if you had been playing the same % as last month, you would have had had 221 points by now (assuming you didn't get negatives when already on zero points). Some quick and easy tips to improve your score: - don't overstetch your empire: grow slow - don't attack too many players, even when you are really big - don't make long connects that are easy to cut (draining restacks) - go for cuts that can hold, don't waste dice when your opponent will always be able to reconnect you know what, go to the strategies section of the forum and read those posts, there are some excellent strategy guides to learn from there. good luck |
