Why the new no-dom system is better

For us noobs, its really discouraging losing so many points from dom. you already have to place in basically the top three to get anywhere...
the only ppl who want the old dom system, are those that either farm it, or base their entire strat around winning by dom. i hate the ppl that you are beating, in round ~20 and they sacrifice all their staks to get dom and finish second with higher points.... this new way, its purely about skill, (and ofcourse, luck) and also promotes more teamwork, as players will now go for the 1's and 2's more often. If any change needs be made for those who cannot bear to have the dom system gone, perhaps a seperate set of tables should be made available for more experienced players where the dom makes a difference, but leave this system up for the casual players... like me, who truly enjoy the game when its not about farming points... |

at 1:48 AM, Monday November 3, 2008 EST I think dom-system was much better-game is boring now-u just pla for place.U can see in 1st round if it´s goinn to be a good or a bad game.in dom system u could make a bad start into a good game with some skill.Other problem is that 7th 6th and 5th lose the same points. Why?

at 2:00 AM, Monday November 3, 2008 EST Short version:
Bullshit. Long version: - No its not more about skill now, quite the oposite - dom rewards skill, without dom game rewards those who are able to bargain best place, no mater how lame thay play - People who sacrifice stack in last turn are either stupid, or they do it for fun. It brings them no dom, becouse each players dom is updated in the beginning of his turn - so nom dom for the land you cant hold. - Farming is not too much an issue now, there were many changes made in dom calculation made to prevent it. For instance the dom gets fixed after round 25 (not sure if it is exactly 25). I understand without dom scoring is easier to understand, and therefore could be better for beginning players. But thats its only advantage in my opinion. Compared to dom, it just encourages whining and the small players to stay in the game, hoping to get better place by outlasting the players who fight. It encourages revolting and backstabing. It's simply all about place, not about the way you get it anymore. |

at 3:45 AM, Monday November 3, 2008 EST the old Dom was better. Now we have players hanging on, who have no hope of improving. The new system does not reward someone who was 1st for most of the game and has lost because everyone ganged up on leader.
