What's a flag?

Why do people get more dice than they have territoies sometimes?

Is there a place where basic things like this are answered?

In Caledonia, there is a secret island in the middle of a large lake. No one from Caledonia can see the island because it is so far from shore. And likewise, the people on the secret island think it is ocean in all directions.

Question # 1

Flag - a tool used in a variety of ways by a player in an attempt to manipulate the outcome of the game. This tool is open to interpretation by the community and is often disagreed on.

Question # 2

I don't understand the question. A player will recieve the amount of dice equivalent to that players largest "connected" set of territories. A player can amass a +32 reserve if all of their territories are fully stacked.

Question # 3

Kind of, but not really.

To expand on #1

A flag is also saying that you will not go for a higher position then is displayed on your flag, basically surrendering to the higher position players in the hopes they wont attack you anymore.

To further expand on shadolin's response, this is only true if someone else doesn't flag for the same position. IF someone else does this, then the two of them can "gang up" on the higher ranked player in order to better their positions jointly.

This is called a "revolt".

To further expand on Shadolin's response, you can flag in hopes of not being attacked by #1, but then #1 might kill you anyway because he plays a lot with #7. You are then allowed to complain on the forums about it, and #1 can make up an entirely different story because that's just how #1 rolls.

To further expand on CS's response, #1,2,4 & 7 might be part of some evil PGA such as the cabal. Or maybe some anti-PGA PGA such as the anti-cabal. In this case it is best to form immediate alliances with the other two players at the table and hope for a top 3 finish. Otherwise, 5th is the best you can achieve.

Actually, it's likely that the other two players are already PGA'd as well which means you're the odd man out and 7th is inevitable. In this case, the flag is best used for an immediate forfeit of the game giving you the ability to change tables and hope there aren't any PGA's there.

Of course, this is all a conspiracy theory, so believe what you will...........
