why farming is still a valid option.

played a 2.5k this morning. i had it won by round 10. i was sitting at +1200. down to 4 players. but i realized, damn, if i can just make this game last 5 more turns without even having to attack anyone, and just build, i will have at least +1700. the point gain per round in this stage is extraordinary. so i just built for two turns. but then a problem happened: one of remaining other 3 started beating one of the other remaining players. it looked like someone would flag 4th, and all of a sudden the game would be over and i would have +1400 (where i currently was). i chose to intervene (i had already declard that the losing guy was going to get 2nd since he helped me earlier in the game). so i started defending him from the aggressor. a few turns later, everyone flagged out, and i got +1980ish i think.

if everyone had flagged in round 10, i wouldve only gotten +1200. did i deserve the extra +780? i dont think so. its not like i fought valiantly over the last 7 turns to deserve such a jump in points.

i mean, im not a bad guy. this is how the system works. every single game there are those critical turns after someone has secured their 1st, but before they have superstacked. all they have to do is end turn for +100 points per turn.

its so deflating to have a hard-earned 1st, and then everyone flag quickly in order and you get only +1000 on a 2.5k, and then watch the next winner of the table get to gain +100 per turn because a couple of lower finishers decide to fight it out for 5th.

is there any way that we can tweak the game, so that the +100/turn doesnt happen so dramatically? because i feel that is a major reason to manipulate the table (i.e. farm) so you can gain 800 more points at the end of game.

thoughts?

I think there are 2 ways to farm.

1. You gain control of the table within the first few rounds such that all other players cant take you down. Seperating the other players makes it complete.

2. Your ally blocks last place.

The 2nd way is an act of extremst douchebaggery. The 1st however requires a lot of luck or pure skill, which on the long term turn out to be the same thing.

Have you ever noticed black guys farm like this, while white guys farm like THIS?

Farming is easier to do now then before no matter what Ryan says. Reward for farming is better now then before. Always farm.

An easy way to change the farm that happens by sitting and building is to make it so that you only get dom when you take territories, not just keep them. This would probably be best to apply in about round 5 to 7.

monte,

You are farming on the wrong tables. It is better to farm at the zero level tables since the number of dom points in play compared to total points in play is largest there.

It doesnt matter if the dom is proportionally larger at lower tables the points gained is still too low to make it worth while for someone with 6K
