Well, you should also consider that many of those "top players" know each other and rarely hurt each other, when they have the chance to attack players they don't know.

I have watched enough games at the 2,500 tables to know what is going on.

I also noticed that every month, there are the same players on top of the leaderboard...certainly a result of some kind of allience, not to forget the excessive shopping orgies which happen frequently.

I just doubt that the American players are so much better than the others.

when you have more players from US then of course there is a higher chance there is more us players in the top 100. simply condition probability, nothing really special.
