Too many of you are scared to be vulnerable, and afraid to have fun.
3 players left, each with 33% of the board. One player thickly stacked, 2 others thin stacked. 5 players left, 2 four land empires of 8 stacks, 3 large players with hardly a clear leader. 1 huge leader as a snake through the middle of the board. Flags every time. This is pathetic. There is hardly anyone that strives to win the game, to forge an alliance when in dire straits, or fights with their backs to the wall. Large empires fall by the wayside with the right cuts.. but nobody has the gusto to try it? Where are the kwarriors of old? Show me Willam Wallace, show me a warrior. I'm really displeased with the kdice communitys tendency to be timid and conced so readily. Are many of you are scared to be vulnerable, and afraid to have fun? |

I'm talking about how often people flag WAY too early in recent games ive played. It's not that the flagging system is bad, I think it's great. What Im finding is that players just tend to flag before ever even THINKING of a) using the chatbox, b) ALLIANCES!! (cant believe im advocating them, but seriously, what ever happened to a solid ally?) etc |

at 10:26 PM, Sunday June 1, 2008 EDT I would definitely hope, Grun, that players could use the current flagging system better, i.e. how you describe. But I do think that the old insta-flag prevents such quick-flagging timid gameplay (although, admittedly brought it's own problems)
Look, kdicekid, my post was on topic. You should try it sometime you silly little hypocrite. |

at 10:33 PM, Sunday June 1, 2008 EDT The thing is that people will ATTACK someone with an 8v8... lose (and lose everything, now exposed to death)... will FLAG and then assume that the leader will not touch them at all.
THEY TRIED TO KILL ME. THEY FAILED. I now have the option to accept that flag (it is a plea for mercy) or do the logical thing, 8v2, 7v3, 6v3, 5v2 etc and claim a bunch of lands, ensuring my odds of winning the game. There's this tendency to believe that ALL flags needs to be respected instantly. Thats not the case. I'll gladly respect a flag, but someone fighting me for many turns, now fails and wants 100% immunity? it's just whack, imo. I respect the flag of someone who yields. But flagging with my 8 stack near 1s.. you better believe im powering up. |

at 10:40 PM, Sunday June 1, 2008 EDT Yeah, I agree. And its certainly a situation-based decision too, or even contingent on the type of players you are playing with (maybe just how much experience they have). I think most of the rational players (regardless of experience) would realize that you in no way should have to refrain from taking some (or even all of the lands), but perhaps newer players feel more inclined (or are told) that a flag trumps all other considerations...
